I bought a new computer and installed BOINC. I am getting lots of computational errors on both projects I crunch. Rosetta and Seti both are acting up. I am running Vista home premium on a quad core with two G of RAM. The ram usage is never over 50% and I have loaded very few programs. I am ripping through 72 units a day but they are all errors so nothing is being accomplished. I have reset the projects several times, rebooted the machine several times and still have errors. I think my 98SE machine is doing more completed units than my new hot rod. Suggestions?

Hello asummerford,

The download page of Boinc (http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php) has gone back to Boinc 5.10.45 as the recommended version.
You might consider to “downgrade” to 5.10.45 and see if this will help.

Success,

I have been having the same problem my client version is 6.2.18 just as the website says.

as you can see here https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/results.php?hostid=888552
it has a LOT of errors :(

What could I possibly do to fix it?

My computer is an XPS M1330 T8300 with 4gb ram it should be doing fine...key word should :(

Hello El Gran David,

Looking at the Wu's your computer produced I see the message:
Can't acquire lockfile – exiting
again and again.
The unofficial Wiki gives this answer to the error message:
http://www.boinc-wiki.info/Can't_acquire_lockfile_-_exiting

Good luck,

Thank you for your help Path7

I couldn't find the Lock File :( But my computer WAS on for a whole day so i'm hoping that with rebooting her, it should work

I was also messing around with disk defrag and a couple of other things that I read that might be conflicting so I hope my computer will be up and running and keep helping out the cause.
