I'm having the same problem so I'll just sit in
I hit update, and the message log goes like so:

1/18/2006 9:07:34 AM|rosetta@home|Sending scheduler request to https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta_cgi/cgi
1/18/2006 9:07:34 AM|rosetta@home|Reason: To fetch work
1/18/2006 9:07:34 AM|rosetta@home|Requesting 8640 seconds of new work
1/18/2006 9:07:39 AM|rosetta@home|Scheduler request to https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta_cgi/cgi succeeded
1/18/2006 9:07:39 AM|rosetta@home|No work from project

but while this is all happening in the messages window, the project window is saying "communication deferred" at the end of the line, and then a time that isn't the time where I am, and it's about 7 minutes off (but I'm sure that's unrelated)...any help would be sensational

Could just be they are out of work or there is a backlog and everyone is pounding the server so it is dropping connection or it could be because it is thursday.....;o)

The 1st step is to check your Messages tab for any error type messages. If by chance are you using an AMD64 processor, you'll see something like: "Message from server, platform 'blah, blah, blah' not found." That would be because Rosetta hasn't bothered to provide us with a suitable client. In that case, you have to trick BOINC/Rosetta into thinking you have an 'anonymous platform' see: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/anonymous_platform.php

David, first if you look at the post dates, they almost 10 to 12 months old, next his computers have not been used for well over 30 days and second WindowsXP-SP2 installed on a Pentium 4 3.6.
Even Dubya has WindowsXP-SP2 on his AMD64, using the standard boinc client (32bit).

There is no mention of AMD64 with a 64bit OS, using an un-offical 64bit BOINC client. Therfore you relpy has nothing to do with it. Have a look at the computers first before you answer in this section.
