Hello,
For a while now I have problems uploading certain work units I get:
5/6/2008 11:48:55 AM||Access to reference site succeeded - project servers may be temporarily down.
Then I check the status of the Rosetta servers and all are good.
This has been happening with both of my systems and now they are not getting any new work units. I get:
5/6/2008 11:57:15 AM|rosetta@home|Temporarily failed upload of 1ail__BOINC_ABINITIO_IGNORE_THE_REST-S25-9-S3-3--1ail_-_3125_133_0_0: http error

Odd thing is I have a high speed net connection that is working so is this issue on my end, my ISP or with BOINC?

Thanks for any help as this is annoying since sometimes my work units expire because they can't be uploaded before their deadline so I don't get credit and Rosetta looses out. I have 12 cores crunching and will be bringing another 16 cores online soon but if I keep having this problem they will not help Rosetta as much as they really could.

Gerard, thanks for supporting the project. I see both of your hosts show a very recent update time, so that implies your scheduler requests are getting through and completing properly. And if that works, so should the uploads. They are going to the same internet site. So if scheduler works, it should mean you do not have a firewall, port-block issue.

...actually, it looks like a bunch of WUs were reported in just about two hours after your post here. Do you still have a problem?

Hi Mod.Sense and thanks for getting back to me.

While my quad core did get a few new work units it ran out of work since and was idle for a while. Now it has a few more work units however there are still a bunch hat have not uploaded properly.

As for the Dual Quad Xeon I made some screen captures and copied the text and place it on my site for you to examine. That machine has not received any new work units since my first post with this issue. As you can see some work units have missed their deadline while trying to upload. The link is below

Thanks for posting the details. The first thing I notice in your messages is that you basically have not restarted BOINC, and therefore nor the machine, since you encountered the problem. Sometimes Windows gets a little hung up on it's sockets connections and a simple reboot will clear things up. So that would be the first thing to try.

Beyond that, there is a BOINC configuration file that can optionally be created on your machine, which can instruct BOINC to record some additional details about the file transfers. It is called cc_config.xml, and is described here. I'd like to ask you to create a file with that name in your BOINC install directory, and set the value for "http_xfer_debug" and "file_xfer_debug" to "1".

You can easily determine your BOINC directory just by right clicking your BOINC icon and displaying the properties. Remove the last portion of the "target" which has the .exe, and that is your BOINC directory.

Once you create the file, you can tell BOINC it is there by clicking the Advanced pulldown menu in the Advanced view, and selecting the option for "Read config file". Otherwise, BOINC will read and use those settings the next time it starts.

So if you are still having any problems, post again with the messages shown while the transfer debug option is active.

Thank you for the walk through with the config file. I rebooted both systems (have done so in the past) but no go so I added the congif logging

Here is the URL with the logging info for the Q6600

I also added info from stdoutgui.txt.
Please let me know if you nbeed any more information.

I see that your climate project on the Q6600 is now having upload problems as well. The log shows Winsock error '10061', which is connection refused. It also has "CAN'T FIND PROJECT" errors for both projects.

...this all sound like network problems... yet it ALSO shows you reporting completed tasks on a scheduler requests, and getting a reply on each machine.

They also both show at least one transfer that finished, but apparently only sent 64 bytes, seems a bit small to have been an actual result.

Anyway, it all sounds like network, DNS, or proxy problems. Perhaps others can offer specific advice there. If you open a DOS command window, and type in the following:
ping boinc.bakerlab.org
ping srv1.bakerlab.org
ping srv4.bakerlab.org
ping srv3.bakerlab.org

you should see something like the following after each ping:
Pinging boinc.bakerlab.org [140.142.20.103] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 140.142.20.103: bytes=32 time=1658ms TTL=42
Reply from 140.142.20.103: bytes=32 time=2499ms TTL=42
Reply from 140.142.20.103: bytes=32 time=1237ms TTL=42
Reply from 140.142.20.103: bytes=32 time=1427ms TTL=42

Ping statistics for 140.142.20.103:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 1237ms, Maximum = 2499ms, Average = 1705ms

Hi,

I am getting the same issue. Download is ok. But after wu is finished BOINC stays at uploading. But it starts to upload, gets to 13.++% uploaded then fails.

This started on this box at about 3am this morning UK time

Don't know about other boxes as i am at work.

Cheers
