I'm posting this because of requests from other users,

use at your own risk. It works fine but if you need

help ask! It cuts out use of the mini app.

Hello Peter,

I've just tried the following app_info.xml on a machine in my herd that had just completed a Reset Project:
<app_info>
<app>
<name>rosetta_beta</name>
</app>
<file_info>
<name>rosetta_beta_5.98_windows_intelx86.exe</name>
</file_info>
<app_version>
<app_name>rosetta_beta</app_name>
<version_num>598</version_num>
<file_ref>
<file_name>rosetta_beta_5.98_windows_intelx86.exe</file_name>
<main_program/>
</file_ref>
</app_version>
</app_info>

The initial result was download of the data files for several Beta 5.98 WUs, which stayed in the downloading state. Messages showed the following error:
7/7/2008 12:47:39 AM||file projects/boinc.bakerlab.org_rosetta/rosetta_beta_5.98_windows_intelx86.exe not found
7/7/2008 12:47:39 AM||[error] No URL for file transfer of rosetta_beta_5.98_windows_intelx86.exe
7/7/2008 12:47:39 AM|rosetta@home|Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. Requesting 194400 seconds of work, reporting 0 completed tasks
7/7/2008 12:47:40 AM|rosetta@home|Backing off 1 min 0 sec on download of rosetta_beta_5.98_windows_intelx86.exe

So I copied rosetta_beta_5.98_windows_intelx86.exe from another machine that I had not reset yet, and the first workunit launched, with all the others going ready to start. Major progress! Looking at messages, I see:
7/7/2008 12:50:41 AM|rosetta@home|[error] Application file rosetta_beta_5.98_windows_intelx86.exe missing signature
7/7/2008 12:50:41 AM|rosetta@home|[error] BOINC cannot accept this file

So I don't think I have the app_info.xml file quite correct yet.

I'll look again in the morning after I've had some sleep, but if you can spot what I have wrong and let me know, I'd appreciate it!

Regards,
Alan

Hi Alan.

No need to reset the project, you can just

[1]Set Rosetta too no new tasks let it finish the tasks it has.

[2]Then update the project to clear results.

[3]Then shut down Boinc put in the app_info file then restart.

As it is now i think you will have to do another project reset

to get all the files you need and clear the error messages, but first

remove the app_info put it somewhere safe.

After it has downloaded everything from Rosetta set it to N.N.T.

and follow the steps i wrote up top. Thats how i did it.

You should be good to go.

btw the app info file looks O.K.

pete.

With other words - either you download all required project-related files manually (e.g. after a project reset, or with a newly attached host), and there are plenty of them necessary for Rosetta, or you let BOINC download them alone, and finally just "replace" the original description "what WU should be crunched with which executables" with own app_info.xml file in the particular project folder.

If you do this in the middle of crunching down your cached tasks, they might get discarded because of different signatures/checksums, so the best way is to put the project to NoNewTasks, wait until the existing tasks get crunched/errored out/aborted and report them, insert the app_info.xml file, restart BOINC and allow getting new tasks.

Hi Speedy.

Edit//You beat me to it, looks like i was wrighting when you posted.

Yes i did delete the mini app and database files for it, just to clean up.

Looks like 5.98 app is working o.k., mini has been disabled

but did you have the 5.82 exe in the folder?. It would only be

there if you had done some tasks with it. If not then you can

always change the app info file to the one Alan used.

(posted in this tread)good luck.

Hi pete
I've just changed over to Alan's app_info file & it has removed all errors, thanks. I will clean up my mini files at some point.

On a side note what part of oz are you in? I'm New Zealand in the South Island in a town called Blenheim
