that dualie runs 24/7, but i have to take it offline for a little bit to put a case fan in it. I don't hear the cpu fan running hard, but just to protect my investment I am going to try a super silent case fan.

If you look up tiger he's off on another project.

QMC@HOME seems to be his latest thing.

wonder where he is crunching, and if he can be "lured" back for casp...

p.s. not a bad rac yourself, from "just" a dualie...

I'm overclocking the cpu a bit, but don't want to be going to high just yet as I need a case fan. The one I had was to small. I also need to get some sort of sound isolation material to put under the box since it is sitting on wood and resonating the cpu fan. Then I can try and tune this thing up a bit more.

ive seen some fully loaded amd quads over here by medion that can serve as a network unit and entertainment center and a pc all in one.
that's the nice thing over here, they give you the software as part of the package. this baby has a blue ray/dvd drive in it. costs a about 300 euro more than my machine's parts.

Ive got the ability to modify the ram freq and voltage as well, but i am not sure i want to play with that and mess things up.

Like I said though, first things first, sound isolation.

the oc feature is available via the ASUS software, nothing intel.

what is your run time per task?
at the moment i am running 4 hrs per task to rebuild my RAC.
i pumped the OC to about 3/4 of full OC and its still pretty quiet for fan noise. the power pack makes just about as much noise as the cpu fan, maybe a little less. I'll have to get back to you how fast it being pushed to.
Lets just say the 1.25 graphics spin at a nice rate.

looks like i am running 3300 mhz and FSB is running at 1480 mhz with the oc setting I have now. according to the asus booster program i am set for 370.00 which is then mutiplied by 9.0 which then gives the mhz. I could in theory boost this baby to 800 x 9.0 which would in theory give me about 7200 mhz. But I think the cpu fan would be howling and I would be on the verge of a thermal shutdown due to no case fan. cpu right now is at 158F and the program says the system is only 123F. drqm voltage can goto 2.15V but I have that set at auto. the frequency can goto 1333 but that is also set on auto. Lastly PCIE freq can goto 150 but again that is set to auto. so how do you like those apples?

(think it may have been greg_be's oc'ing that caused the storms...)

think we're back up, at least temporarily... 36 hrs of potential crunching, literally gone with the wind...

you have to set up a battery backup bank like they do at the smaller telephone switch buildings. use the juice to keep them charged and then when you go out like this, you have some power for a few days. then you can crunch and watch stuff on your pc while your tube is out of commission.

if you don't have a gas range then you better get one of those nice coleman camp stoves to cook off of, or your going to be eating out alot.
