So I got a new Macbook (2.0 Ghz + 2 gig ram) today and one of the first things I did was install BOINC. I added 3 projects, and the first time Rosetta connected I downloaded over 20 workunits. After completing one, it downloaded 3 more! The settings in my profile are set to connect every 0.1 days, so why such a backlog of work? I am worried because there is no way all these units will be completed by the deadline? Seti and LHC@home did not download multiple workunits. On my other computer (Athlon XP2700+) my queue has 3 workunits of Seti and Rosetta waiting. Any ideas what is up? |

(determines size of work cache; maximum 10 days) Jmarks |

Howdy, if I got it right he said " settings in my profile are set to connect every 0.1 days" Or did You mean something else ? -- Lundi -- |

I had a similar experience when I recently re-attached this computer to the project after updating to the (then) latest version of BOINC. After the first spate of workunits, the manager figured things out and stabilized at a reasonably sized queue. That may not be much help to you at this moment, with umpteen WU's facing deadline difficulties, but at least you can look forward to sanity when this is done. I figured it out. Somewhere I found the setting to maintain enough workunits for x number of days. It had been set to 5 which wasn't really a lot of work on my old machine. I guess when I set up BOINC the new benchmarks kicked in and upped my load a lot. Thanks for yalls help. Ben |
