Message 47936 - Posted: 23 Oct 2007, 5:36:12 UTC - in response to Message 47932.

I have one system (Computer ID 381963) running Windows 64bit and was using Rosetta version 5.8 (I think). The system had accumulated over 200,000 points.

Rosetta detected my OS as:
Operating System Microsoft Windows 2003
Professional Edition, Service Pack 2, (05.02.3790.00)

Then I upgraded Rosetta to version 5.10.20 and Rosetta detected my OS as:
Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
, Service Pack 2, (05.02.3790.00)

The Strange thing is that it also assigned my system a new Computer ID (633655).

So I thought, No problem... I should be able to merge them because they are exactly the same system (no OS changes or any modification)... but merge does not see the other host.

It bugs me because I'm having a race with a friend using Rosetta points as the gauge and I have to add the two hosts... (try explaining that to your racing partner) heh.

I hope Rosetta fixes the merge problem... because I'm not about to delete my host.

Howdy,
one thing is amazing: before rosetta upg. it was detected as Windows 2003 and after the upg. it was Windows XP Professional ?!?! Can Rosetta upg. do that :-)

I'm just reporting the facts... can't explain them though... :)

I guess if you only have one PC, your total credits would be your number, without any higher math (addition) involved.

Different OS means different host. Not a Rosetta issue, but a BOINC issue.

Proudly Banned from Predictator@Home and now Cosmology@home as well. Added SETI to the list today. Temporary ban only - so need to work harder :)

It would really be nice if R@H upgrade the Boinc Server Software, so more hosts could be merged ...

Done! I was just able to merge computers, that I was unable to in the past.

Yessss! I finally was able to merge again :)

Odd that it retired my old host, rather than the new duplicate, it looks like I have a box with 440,000 credits in only 3 months :P

The system allways retires the older host. Less chance of problems that way. For example if you copy the BOINC folder to a new host and keep using both the current system works find. If the older host was kept then both would have the same ID and in some projects would crunch the exact same tasks.

Yay! I can now merge my two hosts... well actually the same host...
:)

Me too! I successfully merged my Rosetta hosts!!

zombie67, do you have hosts participating in other projects? I do have hosts participating in CPDN, and there I can't merge hosts.. Have you got any news?

I participate in CPDN, but do not have any duplicate hosts there to merge. My guess is that they are also using a very old version of the sever SW. Bug them to upgrade.
