R@H is not working correctly as yet here

Error on file upload: can't open log file
etc...

I imagine that KEL went home for some much needed rest, but hopefully somebody is still there that can fix it.

You may also want to increase the deadline for WU's (that you accept as valid).

the system is still offline when it comes to transfering files.
maybe monday morning or late sunday night they will have it running again.

It is truly unfortunate to have such an event occur to the Rosetta@Home project. I, and the Rosetta@Home global user community are very proud to be a part of this project from the beginning, and we will be here to assist this project for as long as it is running.

We would like to give a piece of our mind to the vendor of the hardware though... but I think David and the Rosetta@Home team will do a good job giving our piece of mind to them anyway.

David, let us know when everything is up and running.
The Rosetta world community is here to back you up 100%.

sounds like a lawsuit from the lab to the OEM about terms of service or shipping hardware that is faulty aka has bugs, etc.

though i suppose a little public bad mouthing might do the trick.

But I think it's already enough for them, if you address you complaint on behalf of more than 150.000 participants. This is the worst advertising I can imagine, if I were VP of this company. :)

take a ad out in the times and the p-i and one of the computer trade journals that they advertise in and give them grief there.

While I'm certain the OEM has all sorts of contractual clauses disclaiming various types of liability...

the fact that Rosie can quantify her loss, apparently as a direct result of the OEM's negligence, I would think that Rosetta's future SHOULD be including some VERY NICE free upgrades...

Hate to say it, but if the OEM is not in a "goodwill" sort of mood, then it may be worth bringing in the lawyers...

Hardware failure is one thing, negligent product design is something completely different...

(to wit: "The newest edition of our SAN hardware was shipped with a firmware revision that contained an insidious bug - one which caused the new SAN disks to vanish after roughly 45 days of service. ")

I'm certain that beyond myself, out of the 150,000, there are additional law school grads who would be more than happy to write a letter on Rosie's behalf...
