I could use a little help with BOINC stats. Does anyone know if there is a support email or forum? It won't log me on and it won't send me an email with my account info..?? Thanks in advance.

I found that I can't get into the BOINC stats forum unless I'm logged in..!!??

Also does someone know how to keep the BOINC icon from appearing in the notification area? I've tried the ususal right click on the task bar and customize to always hide BOINC but it comes back any way.

I know that option is available if you install BOINC as a service. I don't recall the exact wording but it (along with some other option) will come up in one of the setup windows for the install.

The only thing I saw when installing as a service is to enable or disable the screen saver.

Did you register on the BoincStats site?

It is not part of BOINC - it's a privately run service providing the BAM! account manager and the stats and forum. You do need to register there separately from any BOINC project.

You should be able to browse their forum without logging in, but it requires an account and login to post to the forum.

Your stats should be visible as well without an account there. (Your stats do show up there).
Proudly Banned from Predictator@Home and now Cosmology@home as well. Added SETI to the list today. Temporary ban only - so need to work harder :)

Ok, I had one box that was using 5.8.11 so I did an upgrade to 5.10.13 tonight (Windows). During the service installation (I don't know if the option is available to single or shared installations) there will be a "Service Installation Configuration" window. At the bottom will be two options that are selectable. "Make BOINC your default screensaver." (I leave unchecked personally) and "Launch BOINC when logging on." Leave the bottom option unchecked to forgo having a BOINC icon appear in the notification area. The icon will appear anytime you launch the BOINC Manager (so as to see your progress, etc.) but can be exited by right clicking on the icon and selecting "Exit". Although the BOINC Manager has been exited, the rest of BOINC (including the project(s)) will still be active.

If your using a different platform than Windows, things may be different. I have no experience in the others.

OK. Thanks. That is just what I needed to know. I always left that box checked because I thought BOINC would not run if I didn't but I guess it'll run anyway. I wonder if there is a way to change this setting now. There should be. I'll poke around. Thanks again.
