good morning folks,

2007-06-30 14:21:44 [---] Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
2007-06-30 14:21:45 [---] Access to reference site succeeded - project servers may be temporarily down.

are there any problems after the maintenance this morning, or i´m the one and only with problems? because on the status page all servers seems to be online?

best regards,

sebastian

there was trouble at 11am Cent Euro Time today as well as 14 CET
So there must be some hiccups going on in the servers today.
as of this post the last server problem was at 1400+

I've noticed in the last 2 years (the time I've been with DC) that people will usually post times as local. That is not very useful for the rest of us elsewhere in the world who then have to recompute this to our own local time, not to mention we have to take into account standard or savings time. I have no idea what 1400 hours central european time is equivalent to here in Ohio, USA. Would it be so difficult to post times as UTC, then we'll have commonality? Same for dates; is 2/1/07 Feb 1 or Jan 2? IMO. :)

CET is UTC +1 (daylight savings time makes it +2)
your what...mountain time?
well EST is CET -6 or UTC -5/PST is -9 from CET or -8 from UTC(thats when its winter time, I think you have to take off one more hour from those to make it correct for daylight savings time stateside)

if you going to go with UTC then you have to go with non US format dating so 30/06/07 20.45 UTC or 22.45CET

then we'll have commonality? Same for dates; is 2/1/07 Feb 1 or Jan 2? IMO. :)

thx...

I could delete it if you like.

...but i think there is no need for. This could be a good start to find the perfect format for time and date talking to other people ;).

I prefer CET as the ultimate time, as the heard of the world...
The problem is, for everyone normal time is the simplest time!

Maybe a great idea would be the swatch internet time http://www.swatch.com/internettime/ . It would be hard for everyone to learn it, but it could be used as an official standard ;).

Now it´s @90 and i will go to bed (03:11 CEST or 01:11 UTC at 01 July 2007 or July 01 2007).

best regards,

sebastian

ps now we only have to find a standard for the date. but i think it´s only some beats away.

whats posted at the top of each message is the "standard" time and date.
only those of us from North America use the mm/dd/yy format. maybe some other places do but Europe uses dd/mm/yy format.

though technically this is not correct for international purposes
ISO 8601 specifies that the year has to come first. look at the bottom of the web page and you will see what I mean.

Yikes! We're having an international incident. Maybe we could explore whether Pluto is really a planet or not!

well it was until some scientist with alot of time on his hands decided otherwise.
i was raised writing time/date american style. but now that i live in europe i have to get used to the 24hr clock and the mm/dd format. Leads to a bit of confusion when I go to write the date and time back stateside. lol
