I am interested to know how the work units we crunch gets created. I was also wondering if there could be a section put on may be theServer status page to show what work units are been created, like they show what tapes are been split and in the queue to be split on the Seti@home website.
Thank you for any information.

Cheers

By reading speedy's EMail on the subject as well, I believe the idea is basically this:

Show a list of the various projects that the Rosetta Team is presently sending out WUs on, and then under each project, show the classes of tasks (generally a unique protein, or a specific docking trial), and then show a progress bar for each. For example:
Project Models Models Models
Needed In progress Completed % Remaining

CAPRI
   Fix backbone 5,000 1,000 3,400 12%
   t030 25,000 2,000 1,200 89%
   1lfd 25,000 0 0 100%

NMRREF
   t015 100,000 7,500 22,500 70%

RNA
   CHAINBREAKS

JUMPING

...and then if there were a little blurb about each project and what they are testing, or what objective they are striving for.

Now we all know that the models counts are going to be a bit vague. Because the project doesn't really know ahead of time how many models a task send out will crunch and bring back (due to user defined runtime preference for each task). But, estimates of the number left would be fine.

I think it's a great idea. It has been brought by others as well as being a way to motivate people to crunch more. Show them the work that's left to do, and progress being made.

If you like the idea, click the plus sign next to speedy's post.

o/ I like this, would be nice to see some more information about the workunits. (there's never too much information about the WU's! :))

this idea has been discussed by a number of people in this thread:

At that time I made a sample progress report page, much more simplified than the information Mod.Sense posted:

I only focussed on the diseases, however any reasearch done on rosetta@home would fit in this model.
