I'm getting no new work, for several weeks now. The message is that there IS work, but for OTHER PLATFORMS ONLY. Can someone explain what has happened so suddenly, or what I can do about it? Nothing has changed at my end.... |

Hello, I'm running rosetta@home for some days and already get credits for that. But since yesterday I'm not getting any more wus. I also participate in some other projects, but they also aren't sending me any work. I looked for the server status, they're all online. I'm forced to use a proxy, maybe this is the problem? |

zahnstein, I've moved your post to this thread. There are a number of ideas discussed here that could be related to what you describe. There are several options in BOINC to allow you to control how much work it tries to download each time, and to allocate your machine time across the various projects you like to do work for. If you are adding projects, each one reduces the resource share of the others. So, each of the existing projects get less scheduled CPU time in the days ahead. Also, each new project downloads at least one work unit, so, depending upon how long those are estimated to take, you may have BOINC thinking it already has enough work to keep it busy for some time. From your profile, it looks like you've just added 4 projects in two days. It will take BOINC some time to get used to the idea of how to schedule your CPU time across the 4 new projects in addition to the one you started with. So, unless your machine is completely without work, I would try to leave things alone for a while and let it run through some tasks. It will do a good job of getting work when it needs it if you have a full-time network connection. Welcome to Rosetta. [edit] The other thing that may be involved here is that BOINC keeps track of how much time it is running during the course of a day. And initially, it assumes that your machine will not be running 24hrs a day. But if that is what you do, it takes BOINC a while to observe that and to average it in to it's estimates. Once it realizes how much your machine runs, it will begin to request more work for each project. But it still may not always have one task for each project all the time. It schedules it out over time to match the resource shares you have defined between the projects. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Same problem here, requesting tasks, getting 0 tasks |

Mark: Are you requesting xx seconds of work? Or are you hitting the update button for the project and expecting that should always bring down new work? Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

I am letting the scheduler request automatically. I detached and reattached but no difference. Manual request does not work either. No other jobs are currently running on my system. |

You have a power mac, RAH has limited work for this kind of machine. See this message which says: "Your computer is described as a "Power Macintosh". Does that mean it uses a PPC processor? Due to the decline in the number of PPC computers, the Rosetta team have decided not to support the PPC processor any longer; the number of computers contributing with PPC does not justify the effort of maintaining PPC compatible code. The project team have instead focussed their limited resources on supporting the Intel processors that are used in new Macintosh computers. Some users report picking up a PPC compatible task once every few months, but they are rare and probably getting rarer."
