well, i run boinc a few hours so that my progress of one task is about 70-80%. but then i sometimes have to reboot or shut down my pc, cause of any reason. so i quit boinc, but when i later restart boinc, my progress of the task my pc worked on before quitting is 0%...so i(my pc) have to do all the work i did before again...

is this normal? cause i think it's a bit stupid...can't we save the progress of a task in any file or something?

The application does store it's state. However if you have a slow computer it may not make it to a checkpoint before you shut down. It is also possible that you are looking at different tasks, the names all look the same to me without detailed notes.

which boinc version do you use? i use the newest, 5.8.16. and i don't think that i don't wait enough for storing the state of my task progress. i have a pentium 4 with 3.06 ghz, i waited half an hour just for trying if it is the thing u said...but it doesn't get saved, cause rerun boinc and shortly after the strat of it, it shows 20% progress status, but after a more few seconds, it was down at 0%.
also the thing with the different task is not possible, because i only can run one task and secondly, i also have rosetta as my project...so it has to be the same task...

can't it just be a bug or something like that...should i try an older version?

Definately stick with the current version, regressing will not help since it is the science app that is responsible for checkpointing.

"Showing your machines" does not show others your IP address. Here is more info. If you look at someone else's hosts, you will see there is a lot of specific information that other users cannot access.
