I have a bit of a problem, I had never tried to attach to rosetta on a linux box before and it doesn't seem to want me to.

I should have said this before, I tried making a /etc/hostname with the right hostname in it. I got a boot message saying to use /etc/conf.d/hostname instead. It still wouldn't attach. I checked /etc/conf.d/hostname it was correct, and deleted /etc/hostname.
I think that fixed the gethostbyname failed. It still wouldn't attach.

I have no clue what fixed it, but I managed to get it running by deleting all the config files in the run directory and changing the ALLOW_REMOTE_RPC in my init conf to yes. Then attaching again with
# boinc_client -attach_project {rosetta's site} {user auth key}
