Thanks guys. Glad my observations/questions are on a board labled newbie questions. Think this was a classic case of a watched pot never boils.. ;) |

Thanks guys. Came up with a way to tell it's still running. On Rosetta, just show the graphic output. Think it's because I do software for a living, that I was a bit troubled when the progress was zero for long periods. I've been known to put a machine in a tight loop once in a while. |

How canI get a response to the update key in the BOINC manager for my ROSETTA projects. I get updated on my seti work but nothing happens when I try to update Rosetta at home? Thank you. |

Doris, we are seeing the same problem with another user as well. They are using Hotmail for their EMail. Please do not post your EMail address, but what EMail domain name do you use? In other words, could you please post the portion of your EMail that follows the "@" sign? When you say "udpate key", do you mean the account key? If your PC is currently crunching with the account key you wish to know, you can display the key being used. This is described in this post in another thread on the subject. How many projects are you running? Are there any other messages like "computer overcommited, suspending work fetch"? How big is your cache size? As you still have one WU on your system, it could be a case of LTD (long term debt) and the puter thinks it's enough for just now with Rosetta, let the other project(s) get it's share. edit: Mod.Sense: It's about the update button in BOINC, I presume. Good catch Saenger, the issue of not getting new work units, and possible reasons this may occur is described below. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

OK, yes, usually they are called "buttons" so as not to be confused with keys on the keyboard. I was thinking of something else when I was asking about the EMail. I believe your question has been answered below. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Hi, Just curious if there is a way to change my account name. Currently it's HP_Owner as it's the generic login on my PC and I really don't bother with user accounts on my home computers.... Anyway to change it to something I select?? Thanks Al |

Hi, only your account number/UserID can't be changed. If you go to "your account", and click on the link "other account info", you can change your username there. tony |

As can be seen from the other thread about "low number of models". All the ones that have failed for you have been the FRA 2rio WUs. One was successfully done but the rest have failed. I think Management should be made aware of this, and an eye kept for others experiencing the same issue. If I were you, I'd do nothing, but keep crunching and see if your machine goes back to normal after these wus are out of your system. P.S this one's a bit tougher. Has the smell of bad memory access issues or memory itself. |

Not sure how to make management aware of this, so I'll have to leave that to you. By bad memory, are you talking hardware, or is it code that is corrupting a chunk of memory... |

They'll see this conversation and be aware. Should others report it, or when/if they see a bunch of them in their database related to the FRA 2rio wus, it'll give them something to track. That error code often has to do with bad memory from your computer, but since it seems relatively isolated to that type of wu, I'd think It might have more to do with the WU itself and how it functions on computers. I'm seeing different work units on my computer from the FRA 2rio ones I got yesterday, so maybe you won't be getting many more of them, and if you stop seeing this error, then you need not worry. If, However, you keep getting them, then maybe you'll need to run memtest86+ or something else. I think it's too soon to be investing time searching for a problem on your end that might not exist. tony |

EW-3, I just noticed Teto-Itas' FRA 2rio WUs failed with the same error as yours. Not to worry |

I just added a second computer, and when it reported its first results my RAC went DOWN - was about 43 and dropped to around 32. Was this because the new computer average credit is lower, so my total average went down? |

Charlie: Your Mac hasn't returned a result since Oct 14th, so when the windows machine returned two results for 20 credits today, the RAC was finally recalculated. Click on your name, click on computers, and you can see what your computers have uploaded in the last week. |

Thanks BennyRop, that makes more sense. I don't know why the Mac didn't report results for 5 days. It was connected to the internet and did not show any errors in the message window, and it was running the BOINC client. |
