Just recently, my main computer has been experiencing daily or even more frequent crashes. I'm running version 5.2.13 on an AMD Athlon 3200 chip running Windows XP SP2. I run Rosetta on 3 different computers and this one is the most powerful one I have. It has 1 gig of memory with a 256 mb video card. This has been going on for the last couple of weeks and my patience is wearing thin. Can someone help?

If you have selected BOINC as your screensaver, there are some ongoing issues with that which are being worked on.

The recommendation is simply to select screensaver (none) in Windows until they are able to find and correct the problem. This actually helps BOINC run a smidge faster too.

If you are not running the screensaver, please post details of the problem here.

Running Microsoft's "System Idle Process" will never help cure cancer, AIDS nor Alzheimer's. But running Rosetta@home just might!

Are you running BOINC full throttle? This can sometimes cause processors to overheat. Try using 80-90% of your processor time; runs a little cooler.
Make sure the CPU heat sink is clean and the fan is running properly.

I realize this is an old thread, but heat is not just an old (or new) problem. :o)
