I downloaded BOINC last night, when I got up this morning, I moved the mouse, and after 2 seconds a screen appeared, showing how much work had been done etc, no matter what I did I could not get rid of it, had to switch computer off.

O/S. Windows XP 2

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I dont have time to plough through reams of FAQs

Hi Stu,

do you have an ATI graphics card and set the Rosetta screen saver as your default? This often happens when using that combination, it seems to be a general BOINC problem if I remember correctly what I also read in the Seti boards.

If this is the case, a solution is to turn the screen saver off. Of course many people like to watch the Rosetta graphics (I do so sometimes, but very rarely and then just for a short glimpse), but the saver consumes quite a lot of resources for the graphical display and slows down calculations anyway.

Regards,

Christoph
