The last two WU's to complete have produced error messages similar to the following:- 26/10/2005 11:36:41|rosetta@home|Sending scheduler request to https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta_cgi/cgi 26/10/2005 11:36:41|rosetta@home|Reason: To fetch work 26/10/2005 11:36:41|rosetta@home|Requesting 8640 seconds of new work 26/10/2005 11:36:56||Couldn't resolve hostname [boinc.bakerlab.org] 26/10/2005 11:36:56||request_reschedule_cpus: process exited 26/10/2005 11:36:56|rosetta@home|Scheduler request to https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta_cgi/cgi failed with a return value of -113 26/10/2005 11:36:56|rosetta@home|No schedulers responded 26/10/2005 11:36:56|rosetta@home|Computation for result 1hz6A_abrelaxmode_random_length10_19445_1 finished 26/10/2005 11:36:56|SETI@home|Resuming result 07no03ab.25697.28418.36058.226_1 using setiathome version 418 26/10/2005 11:36:58|rosetta@home|Started upload of 1hz6A_abrelaxmode_random_length10_19445_1_0 26/10/2005 11:37:02|rosetta@home|Deferring communication with project for 54 seconds 26/10/2005 11:37:14||Couldn't resolve hostname [boinc.bakerlab.org] 26/10/2005 11:37:15|rosetta@home|Temporarily failed upload of 1hz6A_abrelaxmode_random_length10_19445_1_0: can't resolve hostname 26/10/2005 11:37:15|rosetta@home|Backing off 1 minutes and 0 seconds on upload of file 1hz6A_abrelaxmode_random_length10_19445_1_0 26/10/2005 11:37:57|rosetta@home|Sending scheduler request to https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta_cgi/cgi 26/10/2005 11:37:57|rosetta@home|Reason: To fetch work 26/10/2005 11:37:57|rosetta@home|Requesting 8640 seconds of new work 26/10/2005 11:38:12||Couldn't resolve hostname [boinc.bakerlab.org] After the error occurred, I was also unable to connect to any websites. I disconnected from internet, then reconnected. I was then able to upload the WU using Retry. All other internet connections were also back to normal. This is using ADSL broadband connection. It seems strange that my internet connection should go haywire when it tries to contact Rosetta@Home! Everything seemed to be working fine till yesterday. Any ideas gratefully received! Thanks, Alan |

26/10/2005 11:38:12||Couldn't resolve hostname [boinc.bakerlab.org] Nothing to dreadful here... Rosetta's trying to connect but can't. It did not 'take down' your internet connection. Are you using a wireless router? Team CFVault.com http://www.cfvault.com |

26/10/2005 11:38:12||Couldn't resolve hostname [boinc.bakerlab.org] Just using a USB ADSL WAN adapter (Sagem F@st 800). I should have another Rosetta WU finishing in about 20 mins. I'll report on what happens, Alan WU has uploaded with no problems. Must have been a glitch with my internet connection! |

It is the internet and glitches happen, ISPs have problems, nodes go bonkers, wires get noisy, the stock market falls, your computer gets lazy, and I have a headache, all these things make for a lousy connection, well most of them ;0) BOINC Wiki |
