how much you get in one hour, please report here This is my set of crunchers. I combined the latest 5 results, and took the average just to smooth things out. But a larger sample is needed, as credits granted can vary greatly. That is a long way to say the numbers could be off by 10-20% in either direction. The Athlon X2 number is wrong. Core 2 Duo E6700 @ 2.8 GHz: 23.75 c/h per core (47.5 c/h total) - got mine last weekend :-) Drool ... ;) ... I can't wait to get my hands on mine, I've got the X6800 Extreme Edition coming. I know it's way over priced but every once in awhile I have a Brain Fart and splurge ... :) Are you running yours at the Stock Rated Speed or have you Overclocked it, I'm going to try and get the X6800 up over 3.4Ghz. Any where between 3.4 & 3.5 will be just fine. |

It is only 5 % overclocked (to 2.8 GHz) - the board I am using is not designed for overclocking and I want it to be rock-bottom stable. I'm still playing with the BIOS settings to squeeze some more speed out of it... ;-) I noticed that when I checked your Computers & realized it was OC'ed a little bit. Stability is the the main reason I went with the X6800 EE, if I don't want to overclock it I don't have to & it will be plenty fast as is is. The Motherboard I'm getting is quite versatile for Overclocking & the CPU will have a Mini Liquid Cooling System so I should be able to bump it up & still retain Stability ... :) |

An Opteron dual core running at 2.6GHz (Opteron 2218) gets an average of 18.1 credits per hour, with a range of 13.4-22.5, that's over 26 work units processed between 25th and 31st of August. The granted credit for the said workunits is on average 2.4 times the claimed value, range 1.8-3.1. This machine is running Linux. Another linux machine, this one with 4x Opteron 840 is getting 9.3 credits per hour, which is 2.1 times the claimed value. Number of workunits: 9. In comparison, my Windows machine with an Athlon64 3400+ (only two workunits in the database) is getting around 14.3 credits per hour, and 1.1 times the claimed credit. -- Mats |

AMD Athalon XP 2400+ (2.0 GHZ) In theory no difference between short and long run-time. But bear in mind that differences in memory types (slower or faster timings) as well as many other factors may matter here: - Network packages may take a small amount of cpu-time. - Incoming e-mails being scanned for viruses etc. Each workunit will take about a minute to start up, but as long as you don't have 1 hour per work-unit it shouldn't make a whole lot of difference. -- Mats |

You seem to be doing better than me with the same system although you have more RAM and longer wu pref. Do either af these make any differance. Bird-Dog, you are running WUs for 1 hour which gives you a lot of overhead for initialization especially on WUs with bigger proteins. Longer runtimes will surely increase your output if you have your PC on for several hours. However, if you only have it on shorter then initialization will take place each time you start up the machine and will cost time. Longer runtimes per WU will only help you little in that case. But they will save you online time/volume. --Christoph |
