Everyone want`s a fair system.

Most state that points/Credits are not really important in the great scheme of things.

I`m at WCG which like most operates a quorum (how many I know not). My points are all over the place, here maybe a reason.

I still run Crunch3r`s 5.5, now in the quorum if I`m lucky I hit it with others running 5.5 and get what I claim more or less. There are times when I don`t of course and my credits are less. I live with it.

From what I can see within Boinc there is no fair system atm. A system of credits built into the app may be fairer I don`t know but it would be complex to setup.

At WCG I get 100 for crunching on a machine for four hours another time I get 40. It`s just the way it is and YES I can understand where people are coming from re stating about open source having been played with for credits and messed the system. It is howether the way it is now, we cannot go backward.

I think and it is only an opinion, if you want a 100% fair system and are really only crunching for the credits.....turn the machine off.
Not all Czech`s bounce but I`d like to try with Barbar ;-)

Make no mistake This IS the TEDDIES TEAM.

If WCG hasn't changed latetely, they use Boinc only to distribute work. Their credits are calculaded by points their own SW would have given times a fixed factor.

Norbert
PS: Their factor used to be a bit to the high side (a share of 75 for WGC and 100 for other projects gave equal RAC for me) but seems to be adjusted lately.

No, they do both:
Thesy calculate the points according to their long-standing norm in WCG as you described, and they calculate credits for BOINC according to the formula benchmark*time, but with a quorum of 3 and the median granted.
They export BOINC-consistent XML, and have their own stats sites as well with the "old" system.

WCG grant standard BOINC credits, however, since they initially started with the United Devices client they had a different credit system already in place. What they did so as not to disadvantage BOINC users is apply a multiple to BOINC credits so that they roughly equate to what would have been earned if the BOINC user had been using the UD client, but this is not exported - it's strictly an in-house measure of credits. Only BOINC credits are exported to BOINC stats sites.

Saenger & Trog Dog: Thanks for the correction. My memory slipped.

The multiplier is 1 Boinc credit = 7 WCG points.
