Ethan,

I think it's a wonderful idea and if the project is cool with it, it may be helpful for the general public to have this?

I also want to challenge you to think BIGGER or dream BIGGER. I know that UW works with several other universities with protein prediction and they share their results with others. What if you could inspire people at those other universities (for a start) to send out a similar e-mail and installer? I don't know who those people would be... it's a big possibility. What if Rosetta was crunched (on many more machines) at big universities like Arizona or Arizona State!? My eyes are popping out of my head just thinking about that!

Hi. i would love to be able to give a link toa friend to a download which makes them signup under my team, defaults to rosetta, and the prefs I specify (always run, leave in memory.. etc)
Maybe I could create 2 or so profiles depending on what the person tells me.
But then again, it might be better for me to MAKE their account for them, so the only good thing would be an auto-attach to rosetta.

could just post a link to an ISO image download and we could burn our own copies of it for distribution.

Just an update (more like a repost, but anyway), I'll be happy to post the file once it's user is made read only in the Rosetta database.

I'm also hoping to get instructions on how to compile your own, but I'm pretty sure it requires owning installshield.

The simple version does ask why type of installation you'd like (single user, multi, service). The only difference from the regular installer is that once you finish installing boinc, it attaches to the project for you in a predetermined account.

Ah I understands what you (or Rom) is doing. It's not like the BBC-CCE one which is dedicated just to that project (aka branded) but just the general Microsoft ORCA adjustment BOINC describe on their website.

But better described here http://www.thelazyslug.com/boinc_building_the_mst.htm

At least that how I interpret it :-)

Howdy Folks,

I just wanted to point out the configuration files that the client software knows about to automatically sign-up to an account manager or project.

http://boinc.berkeley.edu/client_startup.php

Any installer technology can be used, but we internally use Installshield. To use a different installer technology will require some effort.
