Hi, I run BOINC with 4 active projects. With Rosetta, I frequently find that a task "hangs" when it is listed as "Running"; CPU usage goes right down and the time shown for the Rosetta task in the BOINC Mgr never increments. The task never finishes. Typically it gets to Progress=~35% when it stops progressing. If I click on "Show graphics" when the task is "Running", I get a blacked out window. If I try to close the window, I get a "The program is not responding" from windows. If I end the process to complete the close of the graphics window, I get a "Computation error" in the BOINC Mgr for the task. I recently upgraded to BOINC-5.4.9, but it has made no difference. I do not see this with other project's tasks. My machine has plenty of power (RAM, etc). Any ideas? |

Hi, it seems a few people are experiencing this problem, for example see this post: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/forum_thread.php?id=1891#22158 However so far the cause for this behaviour is unknown and it seems only a very few people are affected. It would be very helpful if you could attach to RALPH and see whether the problem occurs on RALPH as well (RALPH is the testplatform for Rosetta, ralph.bakerlab.org). |
