Now that David has reached celebrity status: Should he get a haircut?
All I need to say i sthat I showed my mother a picture of David . She wanted to know what was that "Rosetta Cult " (ROFL , yes she used the word cult :) ) i was involved with and when she saw it she said and I quote:

"That kid's mother should get a weedwhacker and cut his hair. All that hair must be draining some of his brain energy."

I needed to share this.

Not drowning, but warming the brain to a decent working temperature while stopping any external interferences from attacking it.

Dr Baker should do what Dr. Baker chooses to do.

Maybe the good Doctor's hair is somewhat like the Biblical Sampson....if he cuts it, would he lose intellectual strength??.....Cheers, Rog:)

Tony: I hope that you realized I am joking. I am find it so strange that whenever people discuss Dr Baker in the news the first thing they point out is his hair. The man is a genius and all the first thing they talk is his hair.

Of course he does what he wants . :)

I did

Actually if he cut his hair, he'd look like all the other nameless faceless people in the world. Where's the distinction in that???? Atleast he's remembered and remembered is generally a good thing.

I think we should have a contest where the face of our fearless leader is enhanced by fluffy , curly protein molecules...

Oh this is going to get me banned :)

We can slip under the radar though! It's all in how ya SELL it! We'll call it a:
"skill builder for Rosetta participants". You have to combine your knowledge of an image editor (I used the wonderfully functional and expensive PAINT), and the tool to display your protein structure predictions. It has a mode to show as ribbons and then you can rotate it around.

So Dr. Baker is a little unconventional vis-a-vis his hair?

It should be noted that he's also a little unconventional in his approach to science, and it does seem to be working. I have to admit I'm hoping like hell there is going to be an almighty big "I TOLD YOU SO!" from the Bakerlab team at the end of the current CASP trials.

Just remember, this unconventional thinking could wind up getting us a vaccine for HIV.

So what was your problem with his hair?
