Is it possible to run say, Rosetta and SETI at the same time? If so how do i do it? thanks

Yes, certainly it is. ...but why would you want to?? :) Even if you DO hear from ET, a signal back to him will take 100 light years to reach him... so even if he HAS cures for disease, they won't help in OUR lifetimes.

You have your computers "hidden" so I couldn't see if you have a dual core CPU or not, but you can certainly do work for multiple projects. This is one of the strenths of the BOINC Manager as compared to stand-alone project-specific software.

Let me start you with some references and you can follow up with any remaining questions you've got.

QA item about hidden computers and why you should show them.
QA item about how sometimes it may not SEEM like it is working for all the projects just the way you might expect.
...and I guess my QA item presumes you already HAVE multiple projects, but doesn't explain how to set up multiple projects... perhaps that's because we want all of your crunch time to go to Rosetta :)

Ok ok, crunch what you like. But I hope that as you learn more about Rosetta, it's goals, it's potential, it's need for computing power, and how friendly the folks on the boards are here, that you'll be crunching more Rosetta.

Here is the BOINC Wiki topic on multiple projects, and how setting up the resource shares works.

Basically you just go in to the BOINC Manager on your PC, click the "tools" on the pulldown menu at the top, select "Attach to project", paste in the project URL (see BOINC Wiki on choosing a project, and then see that project's homepage for instruction), then you probably select create a NEW user account, enter your EMail address and a password (sanity check, keep it the same as the EMail and password you used for Rosetta), and BOINC will contact the project, download the software and some new tasks to work on.

Oh, back to the dual core CPU thought... even if you split your resource shares 50/50, BOINC doesn't necessarily run one work unit for one project on one CPU and another work unit for the other project on the other. If you think about it, even that wouldn't be fair, because as you USE your computer, you'd be taking time away from one project or the other, and over time it might not be a fair split. So you will see it often crunching two WUs for one project, and then two for the other if you have a dual-core CPU. Not to worry, BOINC DOES get you your desired resource share over time.

Once you get 3 or more projects going, it may not always have work for all of the projects. Again, not to worry, BOINC does pretty much run itself. It will get work when it plans to spend time crunching that project again.

Running Microsoft's "System Idle Process" will never help cure cancer, AIDS nor Alzheimer's. But running Rosetta@home just might!
