On one of my boxes some time ago I installed client , but wasnt happy with the measured integer speed being half of the windows XP on the same box (dual boot) so had been running on windows . Yesterday I made another box dual boot , installed UBUNTU breezy , than installed the linux client again , got it running with no problems , but there must have been a problem as now I seem to have an extra 6 instances of computer ID in "your computers " . Any way of getting rid of these or will they just disappear in time , I dont know how they happened to be there , maybe the way I set it up , but I wont continue running on Linux until somehow there is an improvement on optimizing the Linux client to match the windows client . Answers anyone , thanks :) |

On the subject of BOINC benchmarks lower under Linux than Win, have a look here Basically the "standard" BOINC v5.2.13 binary for Linux from Berkeley University is compiled in a way that its benchmark reports roughly HALF the speed (in FLOPS), than the BOINC v5.2.13 binary for Windows, running on the very same hardware. {...} I too have several Linux "ghosts" floating around in my list of hosts. Rosetta thinks I have 9 computers, I actually have 3 :p The question of merging hosts to clean up this issue is very well known to all of the administration. That worthy person who goes by the handle of Moderator9 is a strong advocate for re-incorporating that function in Rosetta's future. For now, I just let the ghosts hang around. They're a little untidy, but really do no harm. Rosie, Rosie, she's our gal, If she can't do it, no one shall! |

Take that as an indication by Boinc that it thinks you should be running 6 more systems, MintabiePete. Besides.. it'll help us catch up to the teams ahead of us. :) It'll probably be after CASP that the server code is updated and we get the Merge ability back. |

Besides.. it'll help us catch up to the teams ahead of us. :) You are most likely right bennyrop , but they are not doing any harm sitting there , as its been mentioned they just look a little bit untidy :) But I would love to get this Linux thing correct , but not at the expense of being thought cheating by using an optimized client , be great if someone with more experience than me in Linux could look into it :) |

Besides.. it'll help us catch up to the teams ahead of us. :) Just an update , started the UBUNTA breezy again for a while today and seems that something is mutating , I have 4 computers , but Rosetta tells me I have 15 now , whatever is happening :( all I did was start the client , I may have to uninstall ubuntu than re install it again to get some sense out of it . |

It's a bug, and there is a patch for it, but R@H are waiting for CASP to end before applying it. Everytime your hosts connect a new computer is created. I'm up to 90 I think and climbing. You just have to sit tight and wait. :) |
