I noticed a major User and Host increase the last day.

Is this a bug or is this for real!?
Credit's seem to have risen as well.

Maybe it's the first result of the Seti@Home boycott. A whole bunch of people seem to stop Seti and starting other projects.

It's real and it's the result of a AP-article published recently from Donna Blankinship.

So it is nog at bug.. that's great.

and even better for Rosetta as more users and hosts will result in more work being done for CASP.

This is the AP article I was talking about. Google-News finds over 130 copies of this article in many online newspapers.

I think it has to do with Seti boycott. I am one of seti crunchers who left Seti month ago after few enhached WU crunched. And now when I see what they did to crunch3er- I am happy that I did that :)

What'd SETI do to cause a boycott by their devoted screen saver watchers?

It is a complicated situation (not unusual : for interpersonal relationships) but you can check out the message boards at the SETI site for more direct info than you will find here.

I hope that this thread can remain focussed on celebrating and maintaining the increase in users/hosts for Rosetta :D

Hello@all,

I am a 'product' of the SETI boycott. I just registered an account. And yes, my computers will keep crunching Rosetta, even if the boycott ends.

It's not what Seti did... It's what they didn't do... Read this.

I'm here because of the CNN article. You'll have 5 new CPUs (one dual core) up and running soon to help out. I think Rosetta is something way more important to look for than something like Seti, so, all my processing power to ya! :D

I would like to attribute it more to the SETI conflict than the recent publicity. I have also noted a increase in the amount of TeraFlops and posted my opinion when David Baker had asked the same question.

I have seen a steady increase on average 1 Teraflop per 3 days. I would assume that the SETI crunchers would consistently crunch for the project whereas the ones who join from the recent publicity tend not to crunch on a long term basis. This is only my opinion

I'm also here because of the CNN article. It's nice to think my gaming rig is doing something useful when it's not playing Unreal Tournament 2004, Guild Wars, or Homeworld. ;-)
