Hello to everyone and especially the project developers / admins.

The folks, that recognize me from other projects, know very well, i'm for sure no cheerleader at all, but for this project i must say: Very well done! Direct from the start this project runs exceptionally well for me. Up- and downloading goes very smooth and credits are awarded almost instantly. Also the developers actually read the posts and questions people are carrying to this forum and respond in a nice way. All in all this project is outstanding at the moment and i hope that this very high standard will continue in the future.

Very kind regards to everyone, who made this possible!
greetz, Uli

I agree, I've participated in a few projects already but I must say the support and follow up of this project is fantastic.

You keep up the good work, we'll keep up the crunching part :)

I must agree. I registered for Rosetta a couple of weeks ago and run it pretty much 100% with a couple of other projects as backups. (Very high resource share for Rosetta, very low for the others). I prefer the life science projects and had been running Predictor. It had more than its share of problems and when I found Rosetta, I switched. Even though others have reported problems with stuck workunits, I have not had any. I'm running version 4.72 of the core client on a couple of machines. One on my home Linux server (AMD XP2600+) where I've compiled the CC myself for better optimization and one on my old slow Windows 98SE box (300 Mhz PII).

Everyone give yourself a pat on the back!

I agree as well! :)

I have dedicated more computer resources to this project than I originally intended to, and that is directly due to all the things mentioned in this thread.

Projects that lose interest in their participants I think run the real risk of losing the interest of their participants. It is a two-way street.

Thanks for paying attention.

Ditto the good stuff! Even with the occasional errors, I give this project a very satisfactory "warm & fuzzy" rating. To the project staff for their responsiveness, and to the user community for their obvious interest and helpfulness in the project, in BOINC, and in the Wiki, Thanks!!

Well, for me it's a bit two folded. On the one hand it has lots of showstoppers (1% hangs, task switching, etc.) and can IMHO only be run on "rosetta only" PCs. On the other hand the staff is communicative, we (the crunchers) see actual results (top predictions) and it's a project that's IMHO useful (unlike SAH, or those prime number projects).

Will keep an eye of it, if it develops well (means: solves the urgent problems) I consider crunching only for Rosetta. Until then, there are a lot of other projects that need attention. And more are on the way (Lattice, SIMAP, etc.)

Just for a little reality check, Einstein@Home started out that way too. So did LHC@Home. There are times now when they do not seem to pay much attention.

It is still "early days" yet. :)

Hope springs eternal. I ahan't abandom them, tho they might abandon me ... well, predictor has that REALLY nasty bug where when you get most crashes, you get a friendly dialog box ... of course BOINC freezes till you notice that you have to go to that machine and acknowledge the dialog box. Not good for a "fire and forget" system.

We are not supposed to have to worry about things like that ...

Ok, here i have to intervene a little bit. Maybe you simply ousted the problems they had? For Einstein i can nearly fully agree to what you're writing, since the only bug i know of, was this nasty Windows upper-/lowercase scenario, where files got mixed up, but clearly not for LHC. There we had exactly the same tedious fortran bugs as in Predictor, where you had that nasty dialog box stating some kind of fortran error xyz0815 and you had to click OK to abort that BS-workunit and get BOINC working again. That really p*ssed me off that time, since coming back from work looking at this box only to recognize it opened 5 minutes after you left your flat... :((
Never had anything nearly similiar to that at Rosetta and hope to never have ;)
The only thing people might get mad at is the really high memory consumption in comparision to other projects, but that doesn't matter me. Memory is the first thing, even before the cpu, i consider in building a new system...

And memory is pretty cheap these days! It is an easy, relatively inexpensive upgrade.

No, no, Drat, was not clear again. I was talking about the interaction between the project team and the participants. The back and forth interchange ... then again I am terminally depressed so that may still be the problem...
