Firewalls/Virusscan watch out for EXE files because they're "executable". I.E they have the potential to be virii. I'm wondering if your firewall is stopping the transfer? Which firewall are you using? I assume it's the same firewall software on both the 5.4.9 and 5.2.13 puters.

Sorry, I just got back.

UPS just came and brought me two tickets to the "Dodge Charger 500" race at Darlington Motor Speedway for this Saturday. I won a sweepstakes from a form I filled out at the Dodge dealer while waiting and waiting for them to do a recall item on my truck. This includes two tickets to the Dodge Hospitality tent, and a chance (1 in 110) of possibly winning a grand prize of a 2007 Dodge Caliber. I never win anything, this is coooooool

did I mention I hope this is fixed by Saturday??? LOL

I know when you attach parts of the process uses HTTPS to send sensitive account info, and I was wondering about that, but since you can attach to other projects, it can't be.

I'm coming up empty on new ideas, but I'll be thinking about it.

I have nothing to contribute to a solution, but wanted to say you aren't the only one. There do not seem to be a significant number of people with this problem because I have never found much on this in forums, newsgroups, etc.
I have this problem with lhc and with rosetta. I can run einstein@home and world computing grid(which also uses rosetta) without problems.
I can download work units with no trouble. When I try to download the application file for these two projects it craps out at some point. Sometimes at 90+% through the transfer, sometimes as little as 20%.
I have tried to deal with this off and on for a year or more using different versions of boinc or newer versions of the application. I have never been able to solve it.
Running on xandros and dial-up.

Since this doesn't seem to be a common enough problem I think we are out of luck.
I am glad to see that you too have found some boinc projects that you can take part in.

Have either of you tried to attach to the RALPH project[/ure]? It is using a different version of the server software, but the same application. If you can download RALPH then we would know it is a problem on our end. If you can't then we could continue to look on your end.

In any case if you can download RALPH, it would be possible in a few steps to install that application for use with Rosetta on your systems.

I tried today to attach to the ralph project but get a no work from project message and no attempt to download the application so I guess I will have to wait for available work to check that out.

I have tried connecting to rosetta again today. Everything else downloads ok and I get most of the application but then it shows a time out, so I am not getting the same error as jean paul. The file shows in boinc manager as 8.86/9.15MB 96.82%. The largest of the other files that download correctly is about 6 1/2 MB. The log shows that it attempts to finish the file, but never progresses beyond this point. Other things were downloading fine in the meantime.

I aborted the download and let the download begin again. Note that there was a timeout at 6:20 (around 55% complete) because my isp kicked me off, but I reconnected and had no trouble continuing the download at 6:26. Also note the time downloading was shorter because boinc wasn't downloading as many work unit files at the same time. It died at exactly the same point 96.82% 8.86/9.15MB.
It simply won't go further at this point, showing reconnecting and then times out over and over.

Tony,

When you get done here I have another interesting problem for you here. This guy is attached and can download but can't upload.

I've tossed a few items his way. Jean-Paul might want to read it too, but I fear JP's problem seems to be at Rosetta's end, as I'm seeing other reports of this.

What happens if you manually download the .exe from https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/download/ and copy it into BOINC's projects/*rosetta directory?

Are you saying you can't manually download the application?

Ralph also has work now. Ralph is running the same application as Rosetta, but with fewer users it might download faster.

I was able to get Predictor just now for a test but still cant het rosetta.

Jean Paul, I've downloaded the 5.13 app, changed it's name to a text file, and zipped it. It's just under 3meg. How big's your mail box?

Or, you say it's working OK on one of your puters, you can copy it from the working one, and paste it to the other.
