I see you're using 5.2.13. I see atleast 3 individual computers on your account. Is this happening to all of them, or just one or two? Which ones are/is affected? I see one puter got 5 wus today.

For now 1 pc is ok decause i didn't do a reset on it. The 2 other ones are not working and i have the same message on those 2. This one i'm on now has 5.4.9 and the other is 5.2.13. The 5.4.9 i just got it yesterday to see if it would fix this but it didn't 'sniff' I tried all sorts of things so far. BTW thanks for replying so fast. OH the one that is working also has 5.2.13. Any idee was is going on here?

let's see if I got this right. You have 3 puters. Two with 5.2.13, one with 5.4.9. You performed a RESET on the Rosetta project on one of the 5.2.13 and the 5.4.9 machines and they're not working. On the 5.2.13 that you didn't RESET rosetta on, is working fine?

You got it. Something just cam in to my mind. Could this be cause by a windows update or hot fix?

maybe, try a cold boot, not just restart. The recent ms update seems to be the cause of many problems. I'm not sure the mechanisms used by it, but I've seen many reports of similar issues after the April 29th update.

OK i did that an no go. I removed the fix rebooted again an reatacht to the project still no go. It's still timing out at 89.50% at 105KBps so it's not a speed problem.

Sorry, wife yelled, had to do stuff. I'm not sure which puter we are working with. Is it the 5.4.9 or 5.2.13 or both that you rebooted? Let's pick just one and go from there. Let me know which (I'd prefer the 5.4.9 because I know it's using a "good" port). Since you've just rebooted, please copy the entire message log here.

from that short snippet of log in your first post, I "assumed" you were attached to Rosetta. If not, then do the following:

1)Reboot, 5.4.9 computer.

2) try to attach to Rosetta immediately after reboot.

3) copy and paste entire message log here.

in that order. That will show me tons about what it is, and what it's trying and failing to do. The reboot will ensure a clean start, and a reasonably short message log. One that isn't so long it'll eat up too much space on the boards, but contain all the important info.

thanks

Well, you can't crunch because it won't finish downloading the main application file. It successfully reaches the servers and downloads all the smaller files, but your connection seems to "time-out" while downloading the largest file. I'm not sure. Thinking

Jean-Paul, open a command prompt box (start, all programs, accessories, command prompt), in that box type:

ping boinc.bakerlab.org -f -l 1472
then hit enter. does it return 4 successful pings?

IF not

try the same thing, but lower the 1472 number by 10 each time until it works.

You can read more about Dr. TCP here and then read the MS article How to Troubleshoot Black Hole Router Issues here.

Dr. TCP will allow you to change your MTU size if required. Remember a reboot is needed after each change of the MTU.

But first I'd just be curious to see what you find with your Ping tests. I don't know if this is your problem or not, but would be curious to see what you find.

I have no problem getting work, but the maximum unfragmented file size I can get to work is 1464.

actually I'm starting to doubt this is the right path to follow. mine works at 1464 but doesn't at 1465, and I'm still getting through OK. If yours is nearly identical, I don't think that's the problem.

One way to be sure is to install DR. TCP, run it, record the current MTU value so you can change it back, then change it to just under where it fails for you, then restart the puter and try to get attached. If you still can't then this isn't the cure. rerun dr. tcp, set it back to where it was, restart and tomorrow we can move on to something else, if it appears to me in a dream. I haven't thought of what else it could be just yet.
