On 26-APR I reported a stuck WU (12043613) for 78,360.19 sec and claimed credit of 287.70 to the Stuck WU thread. When I look at the results or the WU page it still shows 0 credit granted, however the result shows 287.70 granted.

Is this credit in the my total or not since it is not showing up in the WU page or my overall results? Also, BOINC Stats does not show a day that includes that amount of credit plus my regular crunching.

Granting credit at the result but not putting it in the totals does not really accomplish granting credit.

It takes a while for the credit to show up on the stats sites. These things are not instant. If you watch your total credit as shown in your projects tab, it will be there the first time the project updats itself after the award. It may take a day or so to show up elsewhere.

My confusion is if the credit only shows up in the original individual result on the Rosetta site but not in my overall results page, how will it be credited to my total? Maybe I'm just being dense but I don't grock your answer :<( Thanks for the response(s).

I have put the questions from this thread to the project, and I have partial answers and a promise from them to get me the rest.

The Max credit award for a failed Work unit is 300 points. So if you claim less than 300 you will get the claim. More than 300 you get 300. Now before everyone gets upset about this lets remember two things. First this is the ONLY project making ANY effort to award credit for failed Work Units and ALL projects have them. Second, if they simply granted the requested value in all cases, this would open a significant loophole for cheating, and they are trying to be fair with this.

They are checking into the way the various stats site show the credits, and how the current awards system might trickle into that system, and they are checking to make certain the credit does in fact show in your project totals (they believe is does). I should have some better answers on those points early next week.

Finally, they plan on moving to a nightly credit award system very soon, This will prevent spikes in your RAC and also reduce the impact on the Project stats.

I hope this helps

Your effort to resolve this is most appreciated. I realize that due to the cutting edge nature of the project that failed WUs do occur, but I have never had one fail that took over 21 hours to fail (and then only after I manually aborted the WU).

Again, thank you for your quick responses and actions and I look forward to further updates.

As a further update, it appears by the daily totals at BOINC Stats that the credit for the WU in question was rolled in.

Thank you again for the information and efforts on this issue.
