I see vbox tasks also get stuck, not using any CPU at all, but still tricking BOINC into thinking it is still running (essentially occupying an unused CPU core indefinitely). This is the same as with LHC@home which has the exact same issue. Below is a screenshot of tasks like these. An opt out for these tasks in my opinion is not a luxury but a necessity. |

This is the same as with LHC@home which has the exact same issue. Below is a screenshot of tasks like these. Somewhere in the forum was a small discussion on how to exclude python. I don't know where that is at anymore. Maybe you should shoot a message over to sid_celery hes pretty good with this stuff. Also send something to Admin. (not sure if it has a . or not). That is the tech guy for RAH, maybe....he can help. Or maybe even better, start a new thread with the title of excluding python or even problems with linux and python projects. I checked one of your aborted tasks and it went to a windows machine and completed fine. So maybe there is something in your linux setup and vbox for linux that is not configured correctly. You can always "repair" vbox and make sure extension pack is correct. Those are the only steps I can suggest. Also maybe your system is over commited or there are to many cores working at the same time on python (as in multiple cores working multiple tasks at the same time)? These were some of the issues I had with ATLAS before they changed some stuff. I had to force ATLAS before they changed things on their end to run just one instance and 4 cores for ATLAS alone. Now...being you can't do that specifically for RAH since they are just one project, that leaves with trying to find a way to get to python separated and use something to exclude it or limit it. Grant (SSSF) can maybe help you with that. He's helping me fine tune my system to get better processing time. That's all I can offer you..sorry. Maybe someone with a great understanding of Linux and Vbox can help you more. |
