5 october Windows 11 will be released.
Some interesting features:
- only 64 bit support (it's time, for Rosetta to drop 32 bit app) :-P
- windows 10 have SSE2 with minum, now Win 11 wants SSE4.1 cpu (it's time, for Rosetta to have an optimized app) :-P
- performance improvements

The 32-bit app seems basically dead at this point:

Linux running on an Intel x86-compatible CPU 4.20 1 May 2020, 20:59:36 UTC 128 GigaFLOPS
Microsoft Windows (98 or later) running on an Intel x86-compatible CPU 4.21 8 May 2020, 22:21:24 UTC 224 GigaFLOPS

Might as well go ahead and end it, save time on new versions and bugfixes.

Might as well kill ofrf Android running on ARM 4.20 as well- only 528 GigaFLOPS.
But i have serious doubts as to the accuracy of any of those values. Supposedly Rosetta Mini is still doing over 7 GFLOPs on Windows.

Hardly the same, IMO.

Android and ARM are current, constantly developed platforms with an increasing number of devices each passing day.
The 32-bit architecture is none of that any more. They can keep it for all I care but I'm just not sure it's worth it.

As to the numbers themselves, you're probably right. They don't make sense, especially since Rosetta Mini hasn't had any work in who knows how long.

The last time i analized the R@H app, it's not a native 64 bit app, but it's a wrapper of 32 bit.
Now, i don't know.

Hows that working out for you?

It is working just as it did on Windows 10.

I recently built my Aorus Z590 Pro AX with Intel i9-10850 and 32GB RAM because my previous computer would not run Windows 11 due to Intel Platform Trust Technology (Intel PTT). Windows 11 requires TPM 2.0. Here's some information to help one know the status of their computer. TPM is going to sell lots of computers for those wanting Windows 11.

I like Windows 11. It appears that all features were reviewed and coordinated by Human Engineers for function and appearance.

I have 2 smart card drivers that windows11 does not like.
I haven't figure out what they go to.
One is an ACS USB driver. But ACS does not list that on their website.
The other driver also seems to support this USB thing.
So I am worried if i uninstall those drivers I lose my USB ports.

Greg_BE, I don't have a Smart Card, but here is a Windows Hardware Developer section that may lead you to a solution.

Benchmarked: Do Windows 11’s Security Features Really Hobble Gaming Performance? Yes, if Virualization Based Security (VBS) is enabled.

The fix: How to Disable VBS and Speed Up Windows 11

My Windows 11 version is an update from Windows 10 Home and VBS is turned off, so yes what you are saying is true.

What's weird is I used PC health program and it finds that everything is ok once the smtp is turned on.
So I don't know what to think. Wait until I get the official windows11 and see.

Yeaph. I took a quick look at rosetta.exe (with IDA64) and seems to be 64 bit native, whitout wrapper.

I think there are still quite a few 32 bits os out there, but I'd think they are a minority.
Either way, old OS are likely unpatched and vulnerable to virus, malware, ransomware infection.
i think that old intel compute stick ran a 32 bit os, because its bios is 32 bits, it is one of those things that causes limitations to upgrades.

There are still Projects sending out tasks to only 32bit machines so they are still needed by some projects but yes most Projects have gone to only 64bit apps.

Anyone tried this project (or another one) on one of Intel's new CPUs? They have some performance cores and some efficiency cores and Windows 11 supposedly knows how to manage workloads between the two types.

I'm finally all set up with my Core i7-12700K and wondering whether to start crunching or wait (in case I waste work units) for confirmation of BOINC support for the new CPUs.

It would be extremely unlikely there would be issues. While the new CPUs have some new instructions, there is only one that has been dropped AVX-512.
Since Rosetta doesn't use AVX 512, and all the existing x86 ISA instructions are still supported, there's no reason for Rosetta 4.20 not to run without issue. The combination of Performance & Efficiency cores will very likely give the BOINC Credit mechanism conniptions, but they shouldn't have any issues processing the work.

However at the moment there are only Python Tasks available (which require VirtualBox); some new Rosetta 4.20 work should be available sometime later this week.
