Please report workunits that fail in under one min on this thread. Please provide a link to the result, and if possible your computer type and operating system. This is important because system type is sometimes related to the problem. This thread replaces the previous thread located here Moderator9 ROSETTA@home FAQ Moderator Contact |

This weirdness happened while I was reporting the results of an extremely successful WU. The following 7 Wu's went weirdo on me and went the computing error ways in less than a minute: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/result.php?resultid=18015972 https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/result.php?resultid=18015851 https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/result.php?resultid=18015663 https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/result.php?resultid=18010275 https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/result.php?resultid=18010233 https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/result.php?resultid=18010203 https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/result.php?resultid=18010232 Error Message <core_client_version>5.2.7</core_client_version> <message>The system cannot find the path specified. (0x3) - exit code 3 (0x3) </message> I have the weird feeling that the problem with these ones were the result of a problem with my computer at the time of the upload of my result. Anyhow I am reporting them. This and no other is the root from which a Tyrant springs; when he first appears he is a protector.†Plato |

Jose, firstly, I wanted you to know, we're all pullin' for ya! And we're glad you are able to take the time to help track down the problems. For every user like yourself that tries to help solve problems, there are probably 10 more that just stop running R@H and never offer any feedback, nor help in solving them. I just ran in to a situation this morning with much the same symptoms over on Ralph. WUs failed in under a minute, and one after another. I created a thread there. Could you have a look there at the Windows message I received at the time and see if that is a message that you've seen on your PC? For every user like yourself that tries to help solve problems, there are probably 10 more that just stop running R@H and never offer any feedback, nor help in solving them. The Exit Mesage I got in the unit I reported in message 12671 (Unit ID 18221093) is -1073741819 (0xc0000005) if you check two of your reported units in RALPH they share the same number with the exception that there are more X's inside the parentheses. My error message is long, very, very long and is not like yours (That is very short.) If you want, I can PM it to you. I should clarify, the testing on Ralph is going very well. The error in MY case was sort of self-inflicted. But the net result was Windows decided I needed an extent added to my page file space, and during the time it spends redecorating memory, it says it may fail application requests for memory...which seemed to fail my WUs in under a minute. So if his page file space is configured smaller than needed for all the applications running on Jose's PC, then perhaps he's having the same problem, but more frequently. The Exit Mesage I got in the unit I reported in message 12671 (Unit ID 18221093) is -1073741819 (0xc0000005) ya that was what I noticed too. And as for the rest, I think mine was short because it failed so bad it couldn't bring in the error handling program. Another one I had was very very LONG, and that's the debug code you get with Ralph kicking in. But the question was, are you seeing this screen sometimes on your PC? The Exit Message I got in the unit I reported in message 12671 (Unit ID 18221093) is -1073741819 (0xc0000005) NO..see, I use an utility (Tune Up Utilities 2006) that keeps track of my Virtual and Physical Memory and allows me to set up a threshold where automatic optimizing is done (Via a TuneUp MemOptimimizer) . Also it allows me to do manual optimizing. Since I added that software to my computer , I have had no problems with low virtual memory (physical or virtual) since i bought and installed it.
