What do I need to do with BOINC before I allow Windows to install updates?

The BOINC Manager can be closed, but it keeps running the tasks. So, there is an "exit" option to ask it to shut everything down. But it is not required. If multiple-reboots are required, it would be ideal to not have BOINC start briefly, only for the system to end again. If a task restarts more than 4 or 5 times, without making any progress, it gets ended prematurely.
