Hello,

I am just getting started with Rosetta@home and have been processing tasks for a few days now. Unfortunately when the screen save starts, after showing the message "starting screen save graphics, please wait" for a couple of seconds, it then shows "Could not connect to screen saver of application rosetta mini." However when I open the graphics in the Boinc manager, they show without problem. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I have not heard of others reporting this, but in general, it is desirable to not use BOINC as your screensaver. This is because it makes for a very active screensaver that consumes a fair amount of CPU and memory. Most would rather have those resources available to do more work on the science.

Thanks for the reply Mod.Sense. Though I understand that the graphics can take some computer power, it is a nice "wow" factor of the software and I would still like a solution if anyone has a suggestion. I thought perhaps it could not handle my external monitor, but once detached, it still gives the same error. The screen saver seems to work just fine on my 2009 iMac.

dogboy, what make/model do you have? I am seeing trouble on a late 2014 iMac on 10.15.4. Maybe we have a commonality? Will post back if I find anything further.

It seems that the new 7.16.11 version of the BOINC manager seems to have solved the issue. The screen saver graphics are working perfectly now.

I updated to MacOs Big sur but the screen saver goes black, not showing any graphics.
I am using MacOs 11.0.1
Boinc Manager 7.16.13 wx widgets:3.1.0
