Greetings, Thanks for a more independent source. |

Greetings, That's your right, but I try to avoid clearly biased sources on all sides of the debate. I hope we can move on from this and focus on what matters here - Rosetta. Have a great day. |

I fill my cache and set NNT. When I get to 18 or less I set ANT and when the cache is full I set NNT. I just looked and I'm now down to 3 tasks running. If you have Seti set as an active project, and since it doesn't have any new work, all that stopping & starting of allowing work here is probably confusing the Manager when it comes to working out debt owed between Seti & Rosetta. Hi Grant, I have SETI set for GPU only. And with a 24 hour wait time before hitting the servers again, should really have no bearing on Rosetta. What do you think? The reason, which is probably moot by now, that I set NNT when the Rosetta cache is full was to stop running in panic mode. When I first started and before I started doing as I am, all my tasks were running in panic mode even with a deadline of a few days, and of course, nothing running for SETI. You know, I seem to remember where some at SETI with massively HUGE caches were doing something like I am to prevent hitting the servers so hard constantly. Oh well... ;) I have been thinking of just allowing BOINC to run without setting NNT and I suppose I will do that now... set to ANT. By the way, I'm back to running 9 tasks concurrently again, so it figured itself out. ;) Thanks Grant and have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr XO USS Vre'kasht NCC-33187 "Logic is the cement of our civilization with which we ascend from chaos using reason as our guide." - T'Plana-hath |

Greetings, Hi Yoerik, Yeah, ok, you're from Canada. Nice place by the way. Loved travelling through and visiting there many years ago and many times. I just recently ran into a "friend", from a long time ago, that transplanted from London to Vancouver. She pretty much had the same attitude. :( Everyone has their own opinions and are entitled to them. From now on if I see something that may have a bearing on Rosetta, I will endeavor to locate a more "independent source" before posting anything here. :) Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr XO USS Vre'kasht NCC-33187 "Logic is the cement of our civilization with which we ascend from chaos using reason as our guide." - T'Plana-hath |

Greetings, Am I a jinx? Don't answer that!!! ;) I have 2 tasks ready to report and 20 trying to upload. I have 5 tasks left ready to run and 9 currently running. I noticed that the download server has been offline for quite some time. I haven't seen any mention of this anywhere. Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr XO USS Vre'kasht NCC-33187 "Logic is the cement of our civilization with which we ascend from chaos using reason as our guide." - T'Plana-hath |

Even though it says download server is not running it works. Since you have stuck uploads you might have the certificates expired issue I'm guessing. |

Even though it says download server is not running it works. Hi John, I looked in my Event log and didn't see anything about an expired certificate. This was my last upload attempt entry in the Event Log: Sat 30 May 2020 03:31:30 PM CDT | Rosetta@home | Started upload of Junior_HalfRoid_design6_cart_COVID-19_SAVE_ALL_OUT_IGNORE_THE_REST_6rn4yt7s_929381_30_0_r1902247366_0 Sat 30 May 2020 03:31:31 PM CDT | | Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site Sat 30 May 2020 03:31:31 PM CDT | Rosetta@home | Temporarily failed upload of Junior_HalfRoid_design6_cart_COVID-19_SAVE_ALL_OUT_IGNORE_THE_REST_6rn4yt7s_929381_30_0_r1902247366_0: transient HTTP error Sat 30 May 2020 03:31:31 PM CDT | Rosetta@home | Backing off 00:03:18 on upload of Junior_HalfRoid_design6_cart_COVID-19_SAVE_ALL_OUT_IGNORE_THE_REST_6rn4yt7s_929381_30_0_r1902247366_0 Sat 30 May 2020 03:31:33 PM CDT | | Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down. Would the "attempting access to reference site" entry be due to an expired cert? I've seen this at SETI, but I don't believe it was for an expired cert. We all know that SETI had it's problems. ;) [edit] Ok, after posting this I saw the "transient HTTP error" entry. I didn't have the column stretched enough in the Event log and that was hidden. Is that an indication of an expired cert?[/edit] Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr XO USS Vre'kasht NCC-33187 "Logic is the cement of our civilization with which we ascend from chaos using reason as our guide." - T'Plana-hath |

Yes I also got the transient HTTP error, it´s only when BOINC contacts the scheduler server you get the certificate error. |

Hi John, Ok, thanks. :) I just noticed that my RAC has taken a nose dive. :( I have 8 tasks left running and none ready to start. Bummer... Greetings, again - no disrespect meant. I'd just rather leave politics out of science - something that should not need to be political. |

Would the "attempting access to reference site" entry be due to an expired cert? No; that message comes when BOINC is testing Internet access by fetching a ‘test’ URL (by default https://www.google.com/). Google uses its own certificates for SSL and shouldn’t be affected by the certificate expiry that is causing trouble with BOINC projects. I saw the "transient HTTP error" entry I see that from time to time, even when Internet access is available. I don’t think it’s necessarily connected to the certificate problem. |

Hi Brian, I just looked in my Event log and it is definitely related to an expired cert: Sun 31 May 2020 04:27:35 AM CDT | Rosetta@home | Reporting 6 completed tasks Hopefully tomorrow they can have this resolved. This is the only project I am running. :) Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr XO USS Vre'kasht NCC-33187 "Logic is the cement of our civilization with which we ascend from chaos using reason as our guide." - T'Plana-hath |

You know, this is getting freaking ridiculous. Go back and re-read the post and the info I posted. It was NOT a political post. It was about a potential threat to projects like Rosetta that are researching COVID-19, if I remember correctly. It had NOTHING to do with politics. I suggest you step down from that tall horse you are on and leave me be. Goodbye! Hopefully tomorrow they can have this resolved. It isn't a Rosetta issue it is a BOINC issue and it won't be resolved tomorrow, however the solution is in the thread about expired Security Certificates. Download the new Security Certificate file, copy it to the Programme files, BOINC folder, problem fixed. Grant Darwin NT |

Hi Grant, I found the other thread with procedures on fixing this issue. The one I used that should have worked and worked for others did not work for me. I posted about it earlier with a quote of the procedure I used. [edit]I posted about it in the other thread.[/edit] Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr XO USS Vre'kasht NCC-33187 "Logic is the cement of our civilization with which we ascend from chaos using reason as our guide." - T'Plana-hath |

Throughout this I have had no problems, new WUs have downloaded, there is no build up of WUs ready to report, looking at user / tasks show a normal number of tasks completed and validated but today my bam account showed zero work done for Rosetta in the past day. OK, just typing the facts out I’ve convinced myself that the two are not connected so I’ll change the question - has anyone else experienced problems with today’s bam update? |

OK, Rosetta missed the bam cut-off, zero yesterday and two separate updates today. |

I have been running Rosetta@home on a refurbished computer. It's a temporary stopgap until I can replace my main (Windows 7) computer. It's woefully under powered, but does get SOME work done. However I'm getting an odd message quite frequently. 6/12/2020 9:03:15 AM | Rosetta@home | Project requested delay of 31 seconds 6/12/2020 9:03:51 AM | Rosetta@home | Project requested delay of 31 seconds 6/12/2020 9:04:28 AM | Rosetta@home | Project requested delay of 31 seconds Is there something I could change? Or should I just ignore this? Ross |

That's the normal project scheduler countdown interval between contacts. Ignore it. |

Thanks. I hadn't noticed it before. Ross |
