I've had some difficulty with an inablility to download jobs (not so much lately) or jobs failing to upload (less and less).

I have not found a list of servers (e.g., IP, DNS names, or ASN's) and ports required (I presume all are only outgoing) for Rosetta. I've gone with the following list now.

ASN:
AS3778 [ TEMPLE - Temple University, US ]
AS2552 [ WUSTL-ASN - Washington University, US ]
AS73 [ WASHINGTON-AS - University of Washington, US ]

DNS (not seemingly included above):
boinc.bakerlab.org
bwsrv1.bakerlab.org
bwsrv2.bakerlab.org

Ports (other than 80 and 443):
8080

If a list of servers can be provided in a format usable by typical ad blockers, my firewall can automatically download it to use as a white list.

I believe all activity from the host to the server is on port 80, although if they go to https, I presume it will also be 443.

There is a list of servers in the XML files that comprise the work units. That is how the BOINC Manager knows where to file the files and which servers to rotate through for retries.

"There is a list of servers in the XML files that comprise the work units. That is how the BOINC Manager knows where to file the files and which servers to rotate through for retries."

Do you have an example (or pattern) for the name and path location for these XML files?

If each work unit has its own individual servers, I will be playing a continuing game of cat and mouse trying to add new servers to the list of servers allowed. I have a restrictive firewall not permissive.

Am I to understand each work unit's creator/contributor can (or does) have its own individual servers where its own work units are uploaded? It is not a centralized server to send finished work units when completed?

Also, are work units only uploaded at certain times? Not when finished?

I will get some details back to you later, as time permits. WUs each list the download servers, but they are all identical.

I guess what I was thinking of is the client_state.xml file, on Windows default path it is:
C:ProgramDataBOINCclient_state.xml

I don't see a list of servers. Perhaps they've changed to round-robin the requests on the server side. I just see srv4, and the main project URL in my client_state.xml
