I am running BOINC on my computer, where I'm fine with the CPU being used to its fullest potential, but I don't have much RAM to spare. I've noticed that regular Rosetta tasks can consume up to 1GB of memory, and when I get two at once they compete for the 2GB I have total, which causes performance problems for everything else I'm running. However, Rosetta Mini tasks don't use nearly as much memory, so I'd be happy to run those. Is there a way to avoid regular Rosetta tasks, but still get Rosetta Mini tasks?

There is no selection for you to make to get only the Mini tasks. I think it is more that the COVID tasks use a lot of memory and they are not running Mini.

Several courses here:
1) The project team recently added configuration to the COVID tasks to indicate they use more memory, this should make it less likely that they get sent to your machine, and perhaps allow BOINC Manager to handle things better. So, doing nothing is a viable option, because there are reasons to believe things may improve.
2) You can update your preferences to run on 50% of your CPUs. That would only run a single task, giving it more memory available. It would also likely improve your running of the "everything else".
3) You could (if you have not already) add another BOINC project that runs with less memory. I typically recommend World Community Grid because they have some similar medical research and humanitarian goals, and typically have smaller memory footprints. Running both WCG and R@h typically ends up running a mix of tasks. So this would let you still run two things that help study human disease, and use both CPUs. I suggest the two project resource shares be equal, I think the default is 100, so if they both are 100 that causes BOINC Manager to try and balance between them.
