I understand that all work units for Rosetta are important. But some would like to think they are contributing to a pandemic and would like their resources focused on that. Like World community grid. Anyway, thats just my thought. I think that is a timely thought. Maybe they could update us on what is happening? I won't support non-covid19 projects. Please user can select projects. |

I won't support non-covid19 projects. Please user can select projects. So how would you know which is Covid related and which isn't? Right now all the units have obscure names that only mean something to the group suppling the tasks, it seems you are asking for that to change as well. The way the Covid vaccine was developed had nothing to do with the Covid virus other than that it was a Corona Virus with spikes and someone figured out how to clog up those spikes so the virus can't replicate, it could as easily be the Common Cold they do next as it is ALSO a Corona Virus with spikes, just different spikes. In the past all vaccines were made by working with the actual virus itself, this time is unique so far and hopefully ground breaking for future vaccines. |

Curious if there's any anticipation for another spike in contributors in case monkeypox turns into a bigger issue. Unsure as to the true novelty of the virus, which might entail less research is needed, otherwise. |

What I'm really curious is to know if R@h already has monkeypox workloads. |

What I'm really curious is to know if R@h already has monkeypox workloads. Probably not. It is not that serious of a disease, and would not get high priority. It is similar to smallpox, and there is already a vaccine for that which works on monkeypox. Many countries (including the U.S.) have it stockpiled. It is more a curiosity of why it is appearing now in so many countries. It may be due to the relaxation of covid protections and more travel, but they don't know. |

I read that monkey-pox is also similar to chicken-pox and cow-pox and that having had one of those gives some immunity to monkey-pox as well. So does smallpox. I am old enough to have been vaccinated to smallpox (several times) in those days. N.B.: I am not a doctor; I do not even play one on television. |

I am old enough to have been vaccinated to smallpox (several times) in those days. I got mine in the Air Force. In those days, you did not sue the government to prevent it. |

Hi, I realize this is probably against the message rules but, why can't I receive any tasks? I want to help but need to know if I need to do anything to activate. I installed everything and am just waiting on an active task. Thanks |

Hi, I realize this is probably against the message rules but, why can't I receive any tasks? I want to help but need to know if I need to do anything to activate. I installed everything and am just waiting on an active task. Rosetta has had few tasks for us to crunch for some time . only small batches are released weeks apart . |

i'm suspecting it is due to the fact that more physical work (lab tests, writing papers etc...) must be done before a larger batch comes out, current sparse tasks may be results of some computers exceeding the deadlines and tasks needing to be re-sent not having any insider knowledge, just my hypothesis might be right might be totally worng |

This is the last message I had from the project team at the end of September Uh, i've lost this interesting message from DK "There are plans for more python tasks, but we are still working on creating the new disk image for the VM." I hope they will use the new virtualbox wrapper |

This is the last message I had from the project team at the end of September I wonder if the next line might provide a clue to the answer to your question "This image will likely be larger in size since we hope to run some of the latest deep-learning based methods for protein design and validation" I've found he writes very efficiently, so it's worth reading every word he writes That said, I'm thinking of asking for a status update next week, so if you can point me to what you're referring to wrt this 'new virtualbox wrapper' I'll slip it into his train of thought. You never know. |

That said, I'm thinking of asking for a status update next week, so if you can point me to what you're referring to wrt this 'new virtualbox wrapper' I'll slip it into his train of thought. The latest virtualbox wrapper released by Boinc admins supports, for example, multiattach disk images Multiattach mode images can be attached to more than one virtual machine at the same time, even if these machines are running simultaneously. For each virtual machine to which such an image is attached, a differencing image is created. As a result, data that is written to such a virtual disk by one machine is not seen by the other machines to which the image is attached. Each machine creates its own write history of the multiattach image. |

This is the last message I had from the project team at the end of September You might guess - I've forgotten to even ask. Thanks for the bump. I'm back home in 2 days - and quite busy tbh, but I hope I can remember to chase up the latest status |
