Who wrote the user of the day programing? I just came across a very interesting oddity. Todays user of the day is Shirley who hasn't been active since April 19 2006 Maybe the person who wrote the user of the day program can find a way to exclude such inactive users. |

Who wrote the user of the day programing? That would be the folks at Berkeley. It's part of the standard server package. File it as a bug in Trac. Kathryn :o) The BOINC FAQ Service The Unofficial BOINC Wiki The Trac System More BOINC information than you can shake a stick of RAM at. |

I'm not sure this is the best way to ask this question but I have a couple of questions. First how do I hide the computers on my profile. I noticed a number of people have done this. And second, I've tried to subscrible to BOINC stats but never get an email back giving me a password or whatever I need to sign up. Thanks in advance for the help. |

[snip]First how do I hide the computers on my profile. I noticed a number of people have done this.[/snip] Access your account through either the Rosetta@home Home page or via your Boinc Manager ("Your account" button). In the Preferences section, click on the "View or edit" link next to Rosetta@home preferences. There you can edit "Should Rosetta@home show your computers on its web site?" Don't forget to hit the "Update preferences" button when finished. Someone else will have to help on your second question, I don't know myself. |

There is some SQL syntax error on the RALPH message boards, can you help with that? 1st thread with problem happens to be the 5.78 bug reporting thread. My attempt to report the problem, which itself has the same problem. The error message implies it is a quote or apostrophe processing issue, but I didn't want to clutter up RALPH boards testing. Believe it or not, contrary to my typical course of actions, I have refrained from starting a single thread complaining or asking if anyone is able to upload finished work or recieve new jobs. But I did have ole Albert as a backup. Those jobs have really gotter large. Personally I think there could have been more updates, but if there was nothing new to report, there was nothing new to report. If anyone is curious, I have be able to communicate with Rosetta, but so far I have not be able to get any movement of data in either direction. F. Prefect |

you are not alone, there are quite a few others as you have seen that have this same theme in various forms. the server is having fits of some sort. With reference to the moderation of the Team England - Situation Vacant thread. I apologize for transgressing forum rules, it was entirely unintentional and was/is a genuine attempt to recruit someone to concentrate on building the team and increasing our contribution to this project. In future I will confine team issues to the appropriate thread. However, may I ask if this rule applies to all teams, as I have noticed that some others appear to have more than a single thread in which to promote their affairs? Regards Ian SB |

give mod.sense a bit of time to clean up the boards. he's also trying to do answers to questions as well as clean up all the double team threads. With reference to the moderation of the Team England - Situation Vacant thread. |

Thanks for the consideration Greg. It would be most helpful if you could just directly identify anything I've missed. I certainly do not intend to apply the rule unfairly. And I guess I'm really just interested in page 1 of the cafe. If there's a thread that noone has posted to for months, I'm not too concerned. I just don't want the cafe to become a contest for who can fire up and bump the most threads. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Does Rosetta@Home allow users to flame other users through their signature? I ask as Angus is flaming me wherever he goes with that signature off his. |

and hasn't done a thing with ralph in over a year. What has ralph got to do with anything? Good thing you don't get to vote. There's a lot more solid content in my 300+ posts than all the crud in your 2600+ spams, and more credits both of you combined. Maybe I just have a problem with biased mods who throw their weight around. Proudly Banned from Predictator@Home and now Cosmology@home as well. Added SETI to the list today. Does Rosetta@Home allow users to flame other users through their signature? No, it is not permitted here. However, the only controls I as a moderator have to remove an offensive signiture are to delete every Angus post, or to request that their account be cancelled. Angus, just to avoid any confusion, if you do not remove the word "thugs" from your signiture and cannot retain a signiture that meets the forum guidelines, I will have to proceed with one or both of the above actions. Thank God I haven't got a clue what you are talking about. Whatever aspires behind your keyboard comes from your own fingers. Blaming me for whatever consequences your own actions have is like suing me when you run your car into a tree, just because I once broke a branch off of that tree. Welcome to my ignore list, the warm and welcome place where more of your kind have found a happy place. You know whom I type about, they've got the same longing for demolishing nicknames and when they repeat their own fabrications long enough, they will believe in them, defending them high and low as being the one and only truth. |

Angus, you still need to work on that signature line. Any time you modify someone's profile name and mention it in a way more then to identify who you are responding to, you have probably crossed the line. And any time you characterize a group of people as a gang, you have probably crossed the line. I think I'll start a comedy routine, "you've probably cross the line when...". And any time you characterize a specific group of people, as thugs, as mods, as Angels, it doesn't matter, you've probably crossed the line. As I type this, I see the rules listed at the left, and the one you seem to repeatedly get confused about says "No messages intended to annoy or antagonize other people".
