Message 14043 - Posted: 18 Apr 2006, 16:49:22 UTC - in response to Message 14028.

I don't want to take part on Rosetta@home any more. Is there a way to delete my account on Rosetta@home by administrator?

There is no way I know of that you can delete your account. The Administrative staff can do it, but they usually do not worry about having old account around.

However you can simply "Detach" from the project using the BOINC Manager "Detach" Function.

1) In BOINC Manager, click on the "Projects" tab.
2) Select the Rosetta Project by clicking on it
3) On the left of the window a number of buttons will appear, in the list of buttons marked as "Tasks" the last button is the "Detach" button. Click the detach button and your computer will be disconnected from the project.

Your account records will still be kept on the server, and if you decide to come back you can do so at any time.

If I might ask, why do you want to leave?

I want to leave because I have got some problems while processing the workunits: On the one hand my Linux machine don't finish the workunits and I have to kill them manually. On the other hand my CPUs become too hot while working on Rosetta@home. Thus Rosetta@home is not my favorite BOINC project.

FAQ thread, link to Unofficial Wiki = old place. needs changing to http://boinc-wiki.ath.cx
(in the index post)

Also would be nice to link to Rosetta in the Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosetta%40home

That is the link that was used. It was provided by tony. The only difference between the one you provided and the one in the FAQ is that the link in the FAQ goes direct to the info on teams.

Also would be nice to link to Rosetta in the Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosetta%40home

http://boinc-wiki.ath.cx/index.php?title=Main_Page = new wiki main page

if you're talking about the addy in this post in "team credit" thread, it was copied and pasted from the Wiki itself and is wrong. Someone should edit that page of the wiki.

Strange, it went to a differnt link for me/I'm going mad*

delete as applicatble, option 2 looks good

That should read- "link to the 'Rosetta@Home page in the Wikipedia' in the Rosetta FAQ's, maybe place it where the BOINC Wiki is link to.

option 2 is looking very good at this point, but it all made sence to me when I typed it :-s

EDIT just before I hit post as I double checked.
!!!

- In the FAQ's here on the Rosetta@Home forum (as linked in your signature)
- The INDEX (either first or last post depending on how you look at the forum, last for me)
- In the comments after where it say this line
For additional information or more detailed answers to your questions about Rosseta@home, the BOINC client software or other BOINC projects visit the Unofficial BOINC WIKI.
The BOINC WIKI part points to the old site http://boinc-doc........

But you can use option 2 anyway :D

Good catch on that one. The FAQ is out of date, I will fix it. Thanks

When, if ever, will the "merge host" function be re-enabled for Rosetta?

I know that it was disabled some time ago when it was discovered to be the likely cause of several server crashes.

I'm not agitating for it's return (well, not much :p ) but I would like to know if there are specific plans and/or a timeline in place for the return of that function.

Please consider this a very low priority query.

The next update of the server software should turn this on again. I have no specific details of when that will be, but it is undergoing testing on RAPLH at this time.

I received an e-mail today from please-do-not-reply@boinc.bakerlab.org . The subject line was "A letter to Rosetta@home crunchers".
The body of the e-mail was blank. There was absolutely no content. I suspect that a lot of people received the same thing. Was this important information? Can you send it again?

It was a newsletter with updates about the project and the upcoming CASP competition.

It was in HTML format so to view it you would have to have HTML display turned on in your email system or save the document and open it with a browser. In some cases your e-mail provide may filter HTML attachments. We are planning to post the same message on the website. I can see if it can be resent to you if you wish.

can you unsticky some of those old threads in number crunching.

there's a threads refering to rosetta 5.01. Since we're on 5.13, I don't think it's really necessary anymore.
