If you installed BOINC as a service you will need to uninstall and then reinstall not as a service. You ge tthe choice of having it available when any user is logged on, or just the one user that installed it.

The advantage of running as a service is that BOINC continues when everyone is logged off. The advantage of not-a-service is that you get the graphics.

The best compromise on XP is to make a new user called boinc. Install it as boinc, and set to run only when that user is running. Then remember to log in as that user when you reboot, but use the XP 'switch users' facility instead of logging off. Then you can do other work, and everyone else in the family can log on as their own usernames, but you can always log in as boinc if you want to see graphics.

If BOINC is not installed as a service and you still can't see graphics, we need to know a lot more. What machine? What operating system? Does the BOINC manager run OK? Which version of BOINC? That sort of detail please.

You can enable graphics on service installs. Directions are in the Wiki ... look in the How-To guide list ...

I've heard of rather annoying problems with fast user switching, so i wouldn't recommend it
for your situation i'd recommend a service install, and the graphics work fine as long as the run under "local system account" as said in Paul's "How-To"
