For example, the incoming AMD cpu (3xxx family) seems to be great. But i'm agree for sw. These cpus can be used very well with sse/avx extensions. D language? I know they passed from Fortran to C++ and, it i don't remember wrong, it was not so easy (and i don't know if 100% of the code is in C++ or there is still some Fortran libraries).
