I second the motion - Kathryn's got it just right.

Ignoring Robert's rules of order momentarily, I vote in favor of this.

Aye ...

There was a brief discussion about the style of boards to use and the guys that do most of the work at SAH were pretty unanimous that the two style of forums is needlessly complex and should be eliminated (like EAH did).

Dr. Anderson was of the opinion that the problem with the Q&P should be uncovered and fixed.

But, the problem is in the participants and we cannot do much to change that. BUt, we can make our volunteers job easiser with the use of standard forums ... Just my opinion of course ...

Don't make too much forum-sections:

If someone is new to DC, BOINC or Rosetta and has early problems, where should he / she post the problems ?

Getting Started ? Would be right, but he / she thinks, having a problem and goes to:

Problems and Bug Reports

Number Crunching ? HM, people discuss there a lot of problems, so, should this be posted in Problems and BugReports ?

The struktur of Q&A is horrible; I for my part take a look in Number-Crunching, sometimes in science, nearly never in cafe

Supporting BOINC, a great concept !

I for one would like to see the Q&A forum dumped. I don't have time to check 500 different places for questions and I'm not really in love with the way it's set up anyway.

Einstein@home did this, their message boards contain separate boards for questions but they are all listed in one place (You can see how it looks if you click here).

I agree with you, it is much easier to cope with, both for the newcomer with a question and for the experienced volunteer with the answer

i'm sure you're all aware, but just incase, Janus from BURP is rewriting the whole forum architecture, recoding it properly, and the Q&A is much improved, take a look in the forum testing section on the BURP site

I would be in favor of leaving the current message board topics the way that they are and just getting rid of the Q & A section. Those posts could easily fit in "Number Crunching" area.

indeed, and more people would see them

many people already post problems and issues in the NC forum anyway, on most projects, so it does make sense,

however Janus has made many many improvements to the Q&A forum, making it much easier to use
