Hi ! Lots of projects use badges. Why not Rosetta ? Its fun (and maybe motivation to compute :) ) For example http://signature.statseb.fr/index.py?badge=36 |

Don't expect to much from this project. Even the server code is very old. And that is more important than badges. Greetings, TJ. |

Milkyway just added badges. http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/forum_thread.php?id=3423 If you want to increase your crunchers, you need to listen to them! |

Badges is a good idea. Shouldn't be too hard to add. I'll talk to the R@H people. -krypton |

Bages show appreciation to volunteers. We can come up with some interesting concept and grading scheme. |

Maybe we should hand out badges to admins and scientists instead of users. Bronze: 1 year with no server update Silver: 2 years with no server update Gold: 5 years with no server update Gold with oak leaf cluster: 5 years with no server update and sloppy community work. |

Maybe we should hand out badges to admins and scientists instead of users. Indeed! Last substantive news update June 20 2014 Last tweet: 30 January 2015 to add to the list of failures and utter contempt they have for their contributors. I think you'll have to go further than Gold with oak leaf clusters for this lot, they couldn't even muster the strength to wish all their contributors seasons greetings. Fortunately for them they have Charity Engine throwing in some significant computing lately. Anybody remember predictor@home? EDIT TO ADD Having posted about this subject on previous occasions and again today I have decided to say BYE to this project, this computer immediately and the other two as soon as possible because they are remote. Happy New Year to all. |

Have reluctanctly decided to follow suit and am finishing tasks that are running now and that will be the end for my computers on this project. Time to find one where we actually feel valued for what we freely provide. Maybe we should hand out badges to admins and scientists instead of users. |

I find it sad that so many of you do this for 'points' and 'badges' and would leave just because you don't see news updates directly on the homepage. Anyone interested in the most recent news around the science R@H is enabling should look at the IPD website and IPD's Youtube Channel. There is a tonne of press published through both of these channels, and a huge portion of it is science directly powered by Rosetta@Home's compute-power. There is a plethora of groundbreaking science coming out of the Baker lab and the Institute of Protein Design, not to mention the many hundreds of researchers who utilize the open Robetta structure prediction platform from academic institutions around the world. I agree that the baker-lab is a little under-staffed, if anything. Ideally someone who be a designated point of contact / point-man for updates to the R@H homepage, etc. but honestly I'll continue to donate compute cycles to this project as long as the science behind it keeps moving forward at the awesome pace it has been in the past couple of years! PS - there are some great videos available on the above youtube channel including this Awesome video tour of the Rosetta@Home servers from May 2015. **38 cores crunching for R@H on behalf of cancercomputer.org - a non-profit supporting High Performance Computing in Cancer Research |

I find it sad that so many of you do this for 'points' and 'badges' and would leave just because you don't see news updates directly on the homepage. Nothing to do with points or badges TIMO. I've been at this for over 10 years and believe me, if I thought the scientists on this project deserved my loyalty they would have it. However, they don't and haven't. In fact the greater suprise is that I haven't done this earlier. They themselves show that this project has little or no value to them because if it had value they would have done something. Anyway like I said they have Charity Engine and I'm fed up of what appears to be "blackhole" for my small contribution. I will repeat, it's not about credits or "you are important to us" or "badges" it's about being worthwhile and doing something usefull which I no longer believe about this project. |

Yet, a small acknowledgement or pat on the back from the Rosetta@Home powers that be would go a long way. |

That at one time would have been enough. However, if they did that now they would just be "blowing smoke up your ass" Listen to what people DO, NOT what they SAY. Action on a lot of fronts is requiered and action is what this project has been lacking for quite a few years now. |

All the news / updates about the projects, stuff that you wish you'd see on twitter, etc can be found in the news section here of the Institute for Protein Design. Not really sure what else you think the project is lacking aside from updates to the website, boinc framework code, or other little optimizations (which as I mentioned is probably due more in part to underfunding than anything else, if this really bothers you so much, get proactive and donate some money.) Despite these shortcomings, rest assured your contribution of CPU power has a very real impact on pushing scientific progress forward - if you don't believe me, just spend some time looking at the IPD news feed and youtube channel as I linked previously. **38 cores crunching for R@H on behalf of cancercomputer.org - a non-profit supporting High Performance Computing in Cancer Research |
