Hi all, I am having a problem downloading the R@H WU as my company proxy explicitly denies .exe file extensions. Here is my log file: 4/27/2007 11:30:21 AM||Starting BOINC client version 5.8.16 for windows_intelx86 4/27/2007 11:30:21 AM||log flags: task, file_xfer, sched_ops 4/27/2007 11:30:21 AM||Libraries: libcurl/7.16.0 OpenSSL/0.9.8a zlib/1.2.3 4/27/2007 11:30:21 AM||Data directory: C:Program FilesBOINC 4/27/2007 11:30:21 AM||Processor: 2 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz [x86 Family 15 Model 4 Stepping 9] [fpu tsc sse sse2 mmx] 4/27/2007 11:30:21 AM||Memory: 1.50 GB physical, 2.36 GB virtual 4/27/2007 11:30:21 AM||Disk: 37.26 GB total, 15.45 GB free 4/27/2007 11:30:21 AM|rosetta@home|URL: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/; Computer ID: 482410; location: (none); project prefs: default 4/27/2007 11:30:21 AM||No general preferences found - using BOINC defaults 4/27/2007 11:30:21 AM|rosetta@home|[file_xfer] Started download of file rosetta_5.59_windows_intelx86.exe 4/27/2007 11:30:23 AM|rosetta@home|[file_xfer] Temporarily failed download of rosetta_5.59_windows_intelx86.exe: http error 4/27/2007 11:30:24 AM|rosetta@home|[file_xfer] Started download of file rosetta_5.59_windows_intelx86.exe 4/27/2007 11:30:25 AM|rosetta@home|[file_xfer] Temporarily failed download of rosetta_5.59_windows_intelx86.exe: http error 4/27/2007 11:30:26 AM|rosetta@home|[file_xfer] Started download of file rosetta_5.59_windows_intelx86.exe 4/27/2007 11:30:27 AM|rosetta@home|[file_xfer] Temporarily failed download of rosetta_5.59_windows_intelx86.exe: http error 4/27/2007 11:30:28 AM|rosetta@home|[file_xfer] Started download of file rosetta_5.59_windows_intelx86.exe 4/27/2007 11:30:29 AM|rosetta@home|[file_xfer] Temporarily failed download of rosetta_5.59_windows_intelx86.exe: http error 4/27/2007 11:30:30 AM|rosetta@home|[file_xfer] Started download of file rosetta_5.59_windows_intelx86.exe 4/27/2007 11:30:31 AM|rosetta@home|[file_xfer] Temporarily failed download of rosetta_5.59_windows_intelx86.exe: http error 4/27/2007 11:30:32 AM|rosetta@home|[file_xfer] Started download of file rosetta_5.59_windows_intelx86.exe 4/27/2007 11:30:33 AM|rosetta@home|[file_xfer] Temporarily failed download of rosetta_5.59_windows_intelx86.exe: http error 4/27/2007 11:30:33 AM|rosetta@home|Backing off 1 hr 40 min 6 sec on download of file rosetta_5.59_windows_intelx86.exe 4/27/2007 11:31:26 AM|rosetta@home|Deferring communication for 1 min 0 sec 4/27/2007 11:31:26 AM|rosetta@home|Reason: Unrecoverable error for result 2ztaA_BOINC_SYMM_FOLD_AND_DOCK_RELAX-2ztaA-cterm__1639_94028_0 (app_version download error: couldn't get input files:<file_xfer_error> <file_name>rosetta_5.59_windows_intelx86.exe</file_name> <error_code>-114</error_code> <error_message>user requested transfer abort</error_message></file_xfer_error>) Any way around this? |

I can only mention that the .exe file is available here, and so if you can download it on another PC and copy it to a shared drive, or to a thumb drive or something, you can then just copy it in to your BOINC Rosetta directory and it will not have to download it. But I would point out that Rosetta creates a new release about every 6-12 weeks. So, hopefully you can find a better way around the problem. Perhaps they can create a rule to allow .exe from specific "trusted" IP addresses? Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

So, I found the exe and got it on my work machine. No chance to get a proxy exception, so I will have to sneakernet it until I find a better solution. Should I restart the client after I download that file? |

Yes, I would exit BOINC (exit, not close) and drop the .exe in to the directory and then restart BOINC. Rosetta Moderator: Mod.Sense |

Don't feel too bad, I have 6 machines at home I would like to switch from E@H to Rosetta and not only can't I download any additional work units other than the 2 or 3 I received when I initially attached to the project, I can't find anyone who can even offer any help even though nothing in the FAQ matches the problem I'm experiencing. Yes, I would exit BOINC (exit, not close) and drop the .exe in to the directory and then restart BOINC.I have found that I didn't need to close BOINC to get this to load. Once it sees the file, it skips the D/L and continues. |
