I'm a member of Rosetta project, but since I became also part of QMC project (and I configured 50% by 50% the cpu usage for both projects) only QMC projets are running, and the Rosetta project is ALWAYS in the Preempted state. What else must I do to keep both projects running (or at least, hwo to have some "fair time slice" between both projetcs)? |

Antonio, QMC tasks can take very long, as far as I saw some of them take about 2 days on a 2,8 GHz P4 like yours. Could it be that your PC is only switched on very little time per day? Then BOINC will deduce from the expected time to completion of the WU that your QMC work unit will not be finished within the set deadline and suspends Rosetta or sets the Rosetta WUs to preempted until it thinks you can finish your QMC work in time. I can think of no other ways to help that than by letting your PC run longer (which is not really useful as you donate spare cycles, not let your PC run just for Rosetta, I guess) or by setting the QMC quota lower so that you get less QMC WUs and have a better chance to finish them in time. Can you look up your "% of time BOINC client is running" in your computer? If it is very low that may really be the answer. And how long does your PC think your QMC WUs take (you see that in the BOINC manager under "Tasks" and in the field "Time remaining" for WUs that have not been started yet). I have no idea what that time may be, but probably it is very long. Regards, Christoph |

BOINC does a pretty good job of taking care of itself. Looks like you've got 2 Rosetta WUs waiting to run. If nothing else, once they get closer to their deadlines, then BOINC will schedule them to run. Here is a QA item on how to expect the resource shares to work out between the two projects. But running Rosetta@home just might! https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/ |
