Hey Bob, I think Rebirther was referring to CC4.45 or 4.72, not the Rosetta application 4.75. CC4.72 has a nice little feature that improves the estimated time to completion each time you send in a WU. I'm still on my first WU (83% in 8 hours), but the initial estimate was 350h... so after I send in my first WU, the estimate should drop to less than 200 hours (it takes several WUs to bring down the estiamtion time). I'd tell you where to d/l it, but it seems to have been taken off the developers d/l list, so I don't know where it is anymore.... sorry! Questions? Try the Wiki! Take a look inside my brain |

Hey Bob, All of the old versions are available at http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/ Be sure that you grab the right platform as well as the right version. CC4.72 seems to be running very well for me, Estimated Completion Time is 215 Hrs for a P4/1.4 (But it shows 50% complete after 4 Hrs |

4.72 you can find at http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_4.72_windows_intelx86.exe For any previous version replace 4.72 by the version you want. BOINC.BE: For Belgians who love the smell of glowing red cpu's in the morning Tutta55's Lair |

Just finished my first: Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.40GHz HT Windows XP Pro, Service Pack 2 1GB RAM CPU Time 93,355.33 (~26h) Granted Credit 167.61 Works well if I do 2 projects, each with 100% Resource Share, then each wu gets a thread without a lot of flipping around. Well, break's over. Back to the crunch. "Be all that you can be...considering." Harold Green |

Works well if I do 2 projects, each with 100% Resource Share, then each wu gets a thread without a lot of flipping around. A leave in memory should prevent loosing work done while switching between projects on single-cored CPUs. But this may results in a large memory consumption (Rosetta+BURP may take 0.5GB itself). A dual-core CPU sounds like a good option there :-) |

Finished my first WU in about 30:30h and got 160 credits with Boinc v4.72 on a P4 3,2Ghz, "uhh" got one of the largest WU I think. LHC also worked at this time without any problems (HT). Waiting for the bugfixed application where I can restart Boinc without any loosing of time and credits... |

Finished my 1st WU a while ago now was scheduled to take 399 hours but took 29 on a AMD 850Mhz with 256Mb of Memory No major problems with it at all just a few minor thats all. At times the progress doesnt alter but if you leave it to crunch then the WU does finish, i'm sure this minor problem of false time to completion deadlines and the progree counter will be rectified before coming off BETA testing Join us in Chat (see the forum) Click the Sig Join UBT |

I've completed two WU's on a Pentium-M (Dothan) 1.8 & WinXP. 10 hours 33 minutes and 11 hours 23 minutes actual completion times. |

Mine took about 36 hours on a 1200 mhz AMD with WinXP and 512 ram. |

Not sure how long mine is going to take since the CPU time got reset when I rebooted for other reasons. My sense is 10 or 12 hours. It has about 20 minutes to go. The interesting twist is that I am now getting the messages that it won't finish in time (computer on 85 percent and this project gets 25 percent of that) and will not download a new work unit. Connect interval is .5 days. My recollection is that when I got the first unit, it thought it would take a couple of hundred hours to complete, and relatively quickly figured out that it would be less. It's a Pentium D running at 3.2 GHz with 1 GB of RAM. My suspicion is that if the computations took into account the dual core that it would at least download (maybe going into panic mode until it gets the time thing sorted out). I don't know if that is a BOINC or Rosetta issue. The estimated completion times need to get fixed pretty quickly. If it doesn't think that my pretty fast computer can finish in time, I suspect it will have the same problems with most computers. I don't worry a huge amount about the apparently lost credit due to having to stop BOINC, but lots of folks do. I suspect that these need to move up on someones "to do" list. |

Last night 2 and today 1 Wu WU ended with: 20.09.2005 17:23:35|rosetta@home|Result 1pvaA_abrelax_6739_1 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 20.09.2005 17:23:35|rosetta@home|If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. I reseted the projekt this morning. Client 4.72 |

Sorry, I thought that you're talking about the application version (which is 4.75). But you talked about the BOINC release..... |

Every time I restart my laptop, the CPU time on the Rosetta WU resets to zero. I do not loose any percentage completed progress, just the time. Wont that effect the credit given? Or is it just an error in the display of time, and not the actual logged time when the WU is reported? |

I dont think it will affect your credit sopme of thw WU's seem to have errors in them but they do give credit Join us in Chat (see the forum) Click the Sig Join UBT |

Guess I should have looked at the other threads first. Others are having the same issue. https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/forum_thread.php?id=18 |

Resetting of cpu time to zero also happens if Boinc it's doing benchmarks. Application in progress will be removed from memory and if this is rosetta, then cpu time is zero after benchmarks. Just saw that on my linux box. |
