If at third try you don't succeed, change your direction and try again. Here's the longer description of the bug I was trying to report in the other thread (when the website bug blocked it). I figured out a third way to recover it:

Update on that sick task, though mostly I don't want to spend more time than needed "supporting" any BOINC project with my actual thinking time...

The stuck task accumulated over 28 hours of running time and was obviously making no progress. I should have noticed that the "Remaining" field was blanked as though it had already finished, but I kept star

Hmm... Didn't even see these other stuttered threads. Most of the mess ought to be cleared up, but I can't even see the way to delete this one.

I was going to comment on an apparent problem with the Abinitio tasks, but on second thought it doesn't seem to be worth that much effort.

This is a bit of a thread derailment but it is kinda relevant. I *know* Rosetta does good, and it's worthwhile to crunch this project. But seeing your posts and the lack of any response from the project folks really does make me question taking part in this project for much longer. I suppose you are feeling the same. There are several computers in my home, using my own electricity, most of them crunching Rosetta 24/7 because I feel it is a worthwhile cause. I'm not sure how much money it has cost me, but I am really wondering if I should continue to 'donate' here.

Do they read this, do they care? Would it make much of a difference if I took my 80+ cores elsehwere? Over the last months I mangaed to get into the top 1% and top 100 of average credit users, felt well chuffed with myself. It took me time, effort and money to do this. But for what?

In the News section they announced they just released a new version 4.07 that should fix most of the problems we've been having while crunching, we will see but I hope so.

I like they are working on the code.
But sometimes a message in forum is not so bad.
I like, for example, Fold.it that have a lot of interactions (forum, periodical chat, etc) with volunteers.

Your posts are all read and appreciated. I have attempted, numerous times to assist Shanen and get nothing but various forms of ridicule personally directed at me in return. I much prefer having other users attempt to assist him in defining his problems, and exploring potential solutions. He seems to prefer it as well.

As for what you get by being in the top 1% of crunchers, you have been cited in many highly respected and referenced scientific research papers, and done more than your share of assisting the researchers in their study of protein interactions and binding which will lead to a single flu virus vaccine that protects you from all of the existing flu strains and the likely future variations in flu strains. The knowledge gained and shared about protein structure prediction is also helping research numerous other diseases and locate viable drug and immunization candidates.
