Got an install on my son's OC as a service. It installed fine, started running, dlwonladed work, and uploaded a couple of finshed jobs. Now it won't download or upload any work anymore. :-( I get this: 1/31/2006 8:09:53 PM||Starting BOINC client version 5.2.13 for windows_intelx86 1/31/2006 8:09:53 PM||libcurl/7.14.0 OpenSSL/0.9.8 zlib/1.2.3 1/31/2006 8:09:53 PM||Executing as a daemon 1/31/2006 8:09:53 PM||Data directory: C:Program FilesBOINC 1/31/2006 8:09:53 PM||BOINC is running as a service and as a non-system user. 1/31/2006 8:09:53 PM||No application graphics will be available. 1/31/2006 8:09:53 PM||Processor: 1 AuthenticAMD AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2500+ 1/31/2006 8:09:53 PM||Memory: 511.48 MB physical, 1.22 GB virtual 1/31/2006 8:09:53 PM||Disk: 27.35 GB total, 3.07 GB free 1/31/2006 8:09:53 PM|rosetta@home|Computer ID: 144860; location: home; project prefs: default 1/31/2006 8:09:53 PM||General prefs: from rosetta@home (last modified 2005-12-22 23:45:53) 1/31/2006 8:09:53 PM||General prefs: no separate prefs for home; using your defaults 1/31/2006 8:09:53 PM||Remote control allowed 1/31/2006 8:10:04 PM|rosetta@home|Fetching master file 1/31/2006 8:10:10 PM|rosetta@home|Master file download succeeded 1/31/2006 8:10:17 PM|rosetta@home|Scheduler request to https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta_cgi/cgi failed: system fopen 1/31/2006 8:10:57 PM||request_reschedule_cpus: project op 1/31/2006 8:11:03 PM|rosetta@home|Scheduler request to https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta_cgi/cgi failed: system fopen 1/31/2006 8:12:04 PM|rosetta@home|Scheduler request to https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta_cgi/cgi failed: system fopen 1/31/2006 8:13:03 PM|rosetta@home|Scheduler request to https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta_cgi/cgi failed: system fopen 1/31/2006 8:14:04 PM|rosetta@home|Scheduler request to https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta_cgi/cgi failed: system fopen 1/31/2006 8:15:39 PM|rosetta@home|Scheduler request to https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta_cgi/cgi failed: system fopen 1/31/2006 8:19:15 PM|rosetta@home|Scheduler request to https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta_cgi/cgi failed: system fopen 1/31/2006 8:20:55 PM|rosetta@home|Scheduler request to https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta_cgi/cgi failed: system fopen 1/31/2006 8:51:24 PM||request_reschedule_cpus: project op 1/31/2006 8:51:29 PM|rosetta@home|Scheduler request to https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta_cgi/cgi failed: system fopen Anyone any clues or suggestions? Ok, I get to answer my own question!! :) I had set the directory for BOINC as hidden to hide it from my sons prying eyes. Apparently it doesn't like that for some reason. Resit it to visible and it reconnected straight away. Hope no one else has this issue ever. Thanks Mick |

I think he's referring to when you right click on a directory in the Windows Explorer, select Properties, and then there is a checkbox for "hidden". Add this signature to your EMail: Running Microsoft's "System Idle Process" will never help cure cancer, AIDS nor Alzheimer's. But running Rosetta@home just might! https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/ |

same seems to happen on linux if the project folder and files residing in there don't belong to boinc.boinc , as well the xml and other project related files in /var/lib/boinc-client. check also the slots folder, since computing seems to fail if the slot(s) belong to root. I had the same issue with rosetta, while seti was fine... |
